okay so asked my electrologist about sterilising the equipment and she said they use an autoclave and was surprised that anyone would even think UV was an option in this day and age.
also, i was telling her about the experiences the two of you had with the same electrologist, i didn’t mention any names, just that the lady worked in london and nottingham. she asked if this woman was known for her work on gender patients and i said i guess so as her website has a lot of info. she told me that she thinks she treated another ex client of hers too… and the same story of scabbing etc.
i think possibly, what she lacks in skill/care/attention or whatever you want to call it, in the actual work, she makes up for in presentation, hygiene and all the things that are easier to get right.
Skin is healing, but still a little red surprisingly. I have made my Dorking electrologist aware of the the healing in the consultation area too, and she has assured me it will heal but may just take some time.
I had a very long session today with my electrologist in Dorking, and my skin was only re afterwards, not as bumpy as usual!
The electrologist decided to increase the probe size in an effort to reduce the crusting/scabs. She made sure that it wasn’t uncomfortable for me first and tried an area. I could only feel something when it was sliding out a few times, but she said that may have been the actual bulb of the hair instead. I am so pleased it’s a step forward, as the reaction was a lot better; As a result we were able to make the appointment longer and now my face is almost hair-free at the moment. I can only see the bleached hairs in the light and a few dark ones under the jaw-line, though I refuse to look properly and spoil my joy.
We booked another appointment for the 8th of December, as I am away after then, 10 days gap between both appointments. Will have to monitor the healing and review before we’ll know if the 8th will be too soon.
I am armed with my thermal water, witch hazel and tea tree solution, and aloe vera now. So I’m off to take care of the treated areas and get some much needed rest.
Sorry for any mistakes. Really wanted to write a message quickly. Will take pics tomorrow and post them as soon as I can.
I just want to update and post some pictures. As mentioned, hardly any redness appeared this time in comparison to all previous treatments/consults. Lots of very small pin-prick scabs have now formed. They are quite spread out. My electrologist said from the beginning that she does not treat all hairs, but prefers to spread out the treatment so as not to damage the skin.
Hey Bec, That’s exactly how I feel, and still feel - a step in the right direction How are you getting on?
I’m just not sure if it’s ok to have another appointment so close to the last one. I know I should wait at least 2 weeks, but as this is the only day we can fit in between now and Christmas I thought it best to book it in and see if my skin has healed in the mean time. The pictures above were taken today and the next appointment is scheduled for Tuesday. Can anyone offer any advice?
The electrologist has used different probes; gold, insulated, and now a bigger size probe (size 4). She uses setting 30, though I will double check and ask her again. Is there anything else I can do? Can I discuss timing with her? I don’t know. Plus I still can’t feel the insertions, even with a bigger probe.
I have found a tea tree solution that doesn’t make me break out in a rash, and use aloe vera, witch hazel, cool packs, thermal water after treatment and up to 4 days afterwards. I try to eat a rich diet including lots of water. I have also incorporated the Vit C powder and Milk of magnesia paste applied to my into a weekly routine, as recommended by James.
Any thoughts on how I can improve things from my end or talk about with my electrologist would be much appreciated.
I think she believes scabbing is a good sign. You have done everything correctly. Have you told her that you do not want this level of scabbing on your face? If I saw a few light-colored tiny pinpoint scabs, I wouldn’t comment, but this is overkill and it is preventable. I treat lots of sideburn areas successfully and I know that this is not necessary to permanently remove hair. She can prevent this with the proper mix of intensity and timing. All you can say is, “I don’t want this scabbing.” Optimum to ask for is no scabbing and that would be possible to fulfill if she was willing to try a wee bit harder. All you can do is declare that you do not like this outcome and could she PLEASE refine her levels. You are not expected to know about probes and other principles of good electrolysis care - she is.
Have people questioned you about the “dots” on the side of your face?
hey pokka, just checking in and looked at your pictures. Im really interested in what Dee is saying because i have had a similar reaction to that in the past. Is this your dorking electro? did you ever get back in touch with Jenna and ask what to do about your skin? Has your skin healed from Jenna? Sorry to ask so many questions!!
Im getting on ok, my skins healing up nicely, just a few tiny marks here and there, im waiting patiently for them to go!! They cover with my foundation and i always wear make up anyway so it doesnt bother me as much anymore. I have been going to the place you and stop it suggested and they have been great with my skin, the hairs still coming through but i know this is no quick fix!
I agree with Dee that you do have quite a few of those dots, i’m sure they will heal as mine did. Why is this process so hard in England!!
Are you sticking with the dorking electro? Let me know how you get on. Best of luck!
I am seeing a lady based in Dorking who charges £75 per hour and uses an Apilus cleo machine (2 years experience). Best thing to do is read what you can on this forum, there is a real wealth of info here if you have a little dig you will find so much useful advice. Then next would be to search on the BIAE site directory to see if there are any electrologists close to you and go for a few consultations.
Thank you for your advice. I will definitely bring this up and make it clear that don’t want any scabbing/crusting. The appointment is in the evening so I will call in the morning to discuss this with her. I am seeing the electrologist based in Dorking, as she was able to arrange evening/weekend appointments for me.
The lady based in Dorking has been trying to reduce, in the aim of eventually eliminating the risk of, scabbing which is why she has been trying different ways in each of the three appointments I have had with her so far. This time the scabs were really small, and no one noticed them, come to think of it, this time. Plus, the redness was much less prominent in comparison to all other treatments I have had so far.
The consultation with Jenna in London did produce an unacceptable outcome that has left many marks. I have not returned to Jenna for treatments, and only had that one consultation a couple weeks back now. I did manage to get an email to her to let her know how the healing was coming along, and again she said that it was better than she expected, which did shock me. The scabbing from that consultation was commented on by friends and family, who were worried, especially since the marks left were quite noticeable. I have since emailed her to let her know that I have decided to carry on seeing the electrologist in Dorking.
Thank you. I will keep updates coming along as and when time permits.
Hey Bec! How are you? I’m am feeling shattered from work and worrying about my skin all the time. It’s ok, because the holidays will kick in soon and remind us of what life is really all about
I am still seeing my Dorking electrologist. I mentioned in the previous post my contact with Jenna ^. My skin is healing but I have a few marks that I hope are just fading so slowly that I am not noticing much difference day by day. Jenna, I remember now, she asked me to make a solution of boiling water and a level teaspoon of salt, let it cool down completely and apply with a cotton ball a few times a day after she saw the first pictures. I forgot to mention this the first time- sorry! Did she recommend you do this too? I think it’s just for keeping the open pores clean and reducing the likelihood of infection.
I’m really pleased to hear that your skin is healing well and that you haven’t many marks post treatment. Do you still get scabbing? If so, how much- if you don’t mind me asking? Regarding the hairs still coming through, you have a really good attitude, well done!
Thanks for the luck, Bec… Looks like I need it at the mo. Hope those marks start fading quickly for you!
P.s. Oh, I have found a great serum that really helped me even out some of the discolouration; It’s the Olay regenerist serum, I got the fragrance free one as some fragrances make me break out in rashes (It’s half price at the mo, in boots I think it was…, incase you decide to try it out)
Forgot to mention: I will also try to take a before picture in the day light before my appointment later on today so that the difference can be seen more clearly.
Cost depends on many variables on the electrologist’s side of things and the client’s side of things. Cost cannot be defined because everyone presents with a different hair print, level of commitment. Every electrologist presents with varying degrees of skill, knowledge and equipment choices.
Permanent hair removal is much like going to college: it takes time, patience, effort and money. Saying that you are a poor student makes it clear that you need to start planning for the day when you may want to start your journey to get the hair removed permanently, or at least thinned somewhat. Goals are never realized unless you plan and budget for them. Students know this fact well because they live it! Permanent hair removal can cost a thousand to several thousands of dollars spread out over 9-18 months, depending on how much hair you have, what the structure of hair is like, your hormonal environment, medications you may be taking, stress level, genetics.
You can start learning about electrolysis at least as a personal hobby of sorts until you are employed, earning the money you need to treat too may blond hairs. It’s always going to be a process. It cannot be accomplished in a couple of treatments because hair grows in cycles… but that is a whole other BIG learning process that you should understand well before committing.
how are you? i’ve been away for a while hence the quietness.
sorry to see that you’re still getting scabbing. is she using blend or thermolysis? if it’s thermmolysis, have you tried out blend at all?
i think it’s good that she’s trying whatever she can and listening to feedback. i think you’ll get there in the end. you seem to have had a lot more treated this time, hence the scabbing looks a lot more but i think it’s the same density as before.
