Electrolysis/permanent scars

I once treated a very elderly lady,( mid eighties) who had a very dense growth. When I removed the outer upper lip hairs, she noticed, for the first time in her life ,that she had the normal facial lines ,that most of us get in our 40’s or 50’s. I thought it very funny ,when she swore that she never had them before. It did take a little tactful persuading, for me to convince her fully, that at her age it was to be expected. So, no, electrolysis doesn’t give one wrinkles, but sometimes in the case of elderly clients with very dense growths,it does “uncover” some.

We choose a probe that matches the diameter of the hair structure. Color makes no difference when it comes to probe size, Jimmy.

Diameter means coarse dark or light fine hair.I have fine light hairs on ear but also on cheeks there are some hairs coarse and dark and other hairs are long but fine light hairs…

But she used the same needle on ears and cheeks…I don’t know what she will use during my first treatment.

May be this was the reason that I got scabs on my ears that she was using the same needle for both areas. And if needle is same for both ares then it can damage the skin and to which extent?

Jimmy

Yes I read some where this information about wrinkles from electrolysis and you are saying that skin condition betters after electrolysis I don’t understand that one skin condition betters is that removal of hairs and other one’s can you little explain may be this information will be encouraging…

Thanks.

Jimmy

Yes I have find one case here may be you can have a look on it.

Thanks.

Jimmy

That sounds like pitting / scarring to me. What do others think? That is the reason that electrologists here put so much emphasis on the importance of facial skin healing within a week or so. This person describes a long drawn out healing process.

Hi Guys,

I did my first treatment today on my face and neck. There was much pain on my ears than face. But right now after 3 hours my face looks really swollen from some places. She used the same needle for all kind of hairs.I discuss with her she told me this is not a problem to use the same needle because needle should be less than size of hair.

She was really quick , I don’t know this was her expertise or what and she used the same energy for the light and thick hair.

What you think about this treatment. All cases was ok.

I am very afraid what will happen with my face if treatment was not really correct.

And can I use witch hazel right after the treatment.

Thanks.

sorry a mistake that was on face and ears not neck.

Thanks.

You can use witch hazel anytime. Tea Tree Oil overnight will help you heal up faster.

The probe/needle used is based on both your hairs, and the magnification used by the practitioner. The follicles I insert with a size 6 while using my stereo microscope could not be done with anything more than a size 3 if I had a circle lamp.

HI james,

Thanks for the reply.Ofcourse I will use the tea tree oil.And if there is some problem if I have oily skin and I use tea tree oil.

Thanks.

Jimmy

No! It would be perfect for you. Just use it sparenly. Spot dab on an area. Use a cotton swab and NO DOUBLE DIPPING IN THE BOTTLE. Wash your hands before applying any aftercare.

If Victoria Secret models use it, so can you!

Dee

Hi Dee,

Today is my second day after treatment. Now I have no swelling but on one side of my cheeks there are some tiny scabs. Not on any other place.I think the place where there are scabs she tried to take out some small hairs but then she told me these are too small these will not come out,I will take out them next time. What you think these tiny scabs are problemativ they will leave any sign when they will fallout some dark spots or scar and getting these scabs is normalc during treatment. There are no scabs on other place on cheeks.

Thank you very much for you all people support.

Jimmy

Hi Dee,

My electrolgist told me to keep dry your face for two days.My question is can I wash my face after two days with water.Or I should wait for one more day.

Thanks.

Jimmy

What we say is “Keep it clean and dry for 24 to 72 hours.” What this means is that you can wash your face, but don’t do things like swim, or sweat for long periods of time in the treatment area.

Yes, you can wash your face any time, as long as you dry your face after washing.

Thanks James for your reply. My electrolgist told me dont put water for two days on your face. You can clean your face if you want with cotton pads with little water on that.

And what about the scabs water will be a problem for them.?

Thanks.

Jimmy

I’m okay with using mild soap and water on the treated area right after treatment. I actually advise that they keep the treated area clean and dry and that does include soap and water > witch hazel >
aloe vera gel > tea tree oil (at bedtime) for three days.

Very small scabs are of no concern, but report all your healing concerns to your electrologist so she can try to make adjustments. THe first several treatments are the roughest and then things calm down.

Hi,

I read on this link
http://www.ehow.com/about_4709330_side-effects-electrolysis.html

that scars usually occur after 6 months.I dont understand this,it means you are not always sure that you had skin damage from electrolysis. There are different things written about the side effects.I am really afraid and getting nervous.

Please help.My skin type is IV.I dont know I was good candidate for electrolysis.

Please guye explain me these things. Now to me it looks like electrolysis is a very risky and dangerous process that can ruin up your life.

And other thing I want to ask is that on my face 2 places it looks there are open pores but they are large in size and look brown than other face.Is this normal?

Thanks.

Jimmy

Can you please also tell me James and Dee as I post it before she used the same energy same needle for hairs on face and ears.As ears hair was very thin.I am worried about the energy settings that may be it was too high for thin hairs. What you think?.

Please help me before doing electrolysis I was not afraid but now I am very afraid.

Thanks.

I guess I should get ready for more “hating on me” as I must say that the treatment setting used for ears is the same as what is used on eyebrows. Unless you are treating vellus facial hair (and I doubt that since your screen-name suggests that you are male) then she risks skin damage to your ears if she doesn’t lower the energy from the high levels used for strong beard hairs.

Now, everything I just said is null and void if she has a foot-pedal machine where she can decrease the amount of energy output by the probe simply by tapping the pedal fast, instead of allowing the full treatment blast to flow through.
