I’m thinking of getting a electrolysis machine so I can do treatments at home. I can’t get them off ebay cause I live in Sweden not USA. What machine did you have results with and how long did it take? I want to treat my arms, legs, chest etc.
Also is it true that you just need 1 treatment not like with laser 4-12 treatments?
If electrolysis is so effective why don’t people use it alot like silk’n or the tria laser`?
eBay sellers sell to people abroad too. It all depends.
A chest would be relatively difficult to treat on yourself due to angles.
You need multiple treatments with both methods because hair grows in cycles. Either way, laser only works on coarse hair. Electrolysis works on any hair, but treats it one by one.
Electrolysis on yourself will take a while to learn. It’s not an easy skill. Be prepared to spend months learning to do proper insertions etc first.
So home lasers work? if so which one cause i have tried the silk’n and it was just pure crap, after a month all hair grew back just slow basiclly it was just like waxing the hair
The only methods that provide permanent removal are properly performed electrolysis and professional lasers set at good effective settings. My comment above was in regards to true professional laser machines.
Home laser machines (Silk’n is an IPL, not a laser btw) only have the capacity to provide temporary results due to lack of power.
Although some people get some limited results with Tria, buying a used professional unit would still be better, in the same way that buying a 50 year old professional unit would run circles around any One Touch, or Vector/Global consumer marketed home electrolysis device.
Peter: Something like the Hinkel Classic would be ideal.

It will do all three modes and lists for $1200 USD. I was able to get something similar, the Clareblend Mini-Blend, on EBAY for $400. These lower cost good basic machines do not come up that often.
As to your question about number of treatments, I can tell you that between gaining experience, figuring out with needles to use, and the natural re-growth cycles, you will need to go over any one area several times.
James, for doing it at home working only on myself, if I buy a professional machine to replace a One Touch machine, would I be able to figure out how to use it, or do I need some kind of extra training? I’ve seen some machines being sold on eBay and am wondering if they’d be safe to use.
I have been teaching myself after getting a few books. I can do some areas on myself but you need good vision aides. I had to get binocular dental loupes for working on myself to get the right balance of magnification and working distance.
Note their is a Hinckel UC3 on ebay right now with a bid just over $200.
That might be a good idea for me, too. I’m working on my face so I don’t need vision aides, but reading up a bit would certainly be a good idea. Thanks for the good ideas.
I’m still wondering which machine is best…
also, can someone please explain in depth what the differences in the settings are and how it all effects the hair removal intensity, etc
All professional electrolysis epilators will assist in removing hair permanently, providing the electrologist knows what she/he is doing. We cannot tell you in detail what settings of intensity and timing are the best because there are too many variables and what works for one’s skin and hair problem is too intense for another’s skin and hair problem.
There are training programs and books that can start one off, but for any new electrologist, it is a matter of just “doing” . The art and skill is developed as we perform and observe. This is not easy as hair is tough, but it becomes more comfortable for those that consistently engage in doing a lot of insertions, with a proper and good set up.
Even professional electrologists don’t work on their own faces. It’s too hard to get the right angle and not cause damage to the skin.
hi because,
I’ve found that a big magnifying mirror that suction sticks on a built in mirror is usefull for face work and doesn’t cost much.
Hi!
Please if you can give me your advice about type of machine that I should get if I’m beginner. I have a friend who’s ready to be my guinea pig, and I’ll be hear’s(she’s also intrestead).I’ve been at several electrologists for the past 3 years, and the hairs are still here, so I’ve decaded to take things in my hands!
I was considering models SX-T and SX-A

Or if you can recommend some other manufacturer i would be very thankfull!!!
Are you in the UK? If you’re looking at Sterex, I would go for the SX-B. From what I understand, one should start practising with galvanic, then blend and work their way up to thermolysis. The SX-B is the most versatile.
Otherwise, I’m sure there are many better epilators that will be recommended.
Did you see my previous post in this thread? I have made some recommendations. Also, right now on ebay there are a Fischer CBX, two Fischer SE4’s, a Sterex SX-B, and a Fischer Compu Blend…all descent choices
I know the pros suggest starting with galvanic, then thermolysis, and then blend but if you get a simple blend machine, it will choose the RF to DC ratio for you and you can just do blend. In my experience, galvanic takes too long and Thermolysis (non-flash) is not very effective. With an auto blend machine at your pain withstand point, you can get good releases in 10-20 seconds. Galvanic, alone, you will be 60 seconds or more per hair.
Ok!
I think I’m going to order SX-T, I’m from Croatia
Thank you for your rewievs!
As a beginner, I don’t think anyone would recommend starting off with a thermolysis only machine.
hey stoppit&tidyup
I made a mistake, I was thinking on SX-B but I accidentally wrote T I think it’s due to amount of watched epilators and ads on the internet…
that’s why I thanked you, you are directed me on logical choice;)
