Terrible and Depressing

I didn’t know either, in Canada this is possible too? I asked my doctor about wishing insurance would pay, and she responded “ya that would be nice”

Is she just misinformed, or does this only happen in the US?

History buffs like me get a laugh out of this question.

In Canada, the health care program used to pay for everyone’s hair removal, if it was deemed a medical problem, no matter who did the hair removal work. Any woman who had hair where it was not usually found, or in amounts that were socially unacceptable, could walk in to any place and get it removed and bill Canada Health. Then, the doctors tried to take over the field so that Canada Health would pay them for hair removal, but not the neighborhood practitioner. When all the dust settled, they stopped paying anyone on the free and easy plan they used to have. Now, it is much harder, but I don’t think it is impossible. What I do know is that the doctors who used to have electrolysis adjuncts to their practices, seemed to have closed them up when getting paid for this service stopped being as easy as talk people into walking in off the street and having the government pay the bill.

You basically have to prove that it’s not for “cosmetic reasons” to get it covered by insurance.

I have had the same life-changing experience as stoppit&tidyup. It’s the reason that I am still helping out on this forum. Hair removal used to consumer my life and now it’s not something I think about at all. My major areas of concern were bikini and underarms which I took care of with laser for a 95%+ reduction, as well as my abdomen which I took care of with electrolysis. After those were done, I did the other areas which didn’t bother me as much, but were more of a nice-to-have…laser on lower legs, electrolysis on upper lip and eyebrows.
