Scars/infections from electrolysis

Can someone please tell me what’s going on with my face after doing 1 session of electrolysis with a new electrologist. Every spot you see on the photos is where she zapped. I keep getting more or reoccuring pimples as weeks go by that are leaving red raised bumps on my face that won’t go away even though it’s been 2 months… ive tried my best not to panic but i seriously don’t know whats happening to my face. i cant cover these type of pimples with makeup either. is this infections? will they be here forever and keep reoccuring? i dont have any hormone problems or acne issues in the past. i dont even care about my hairs anymore i want a clear face like i had before going to her im so stressed

Get yourself to a dermatologist immediately! Two month of this? Not good.
These pimples are not typical from electrolysis treatment. I could guess at what’s going on; but I won’t. Time to see the doctor! Get to it. Antibiotic time for sure.

Can you please guess? I really want answers. I do have a derm appointment soon but you know how long it takes to see them (months). I just want to know if I will be ok.

An allergy to the nickel component in stainless steel of the filament might do this. Contamination of the area, or improper clensing. Re-using a contaminated needle. Various bacteria that may have been carried into the open electrolysis wound. Something you put on your face post-treatment ( polysporin is a common one) . And many many other possibilities.

does this mean my face will be like this forever if it is contamination? Is there a way i can fix this if it’s contamination? And should i not use polysporin?

absolutely not.

No it doesnt mean your face will be like this forever. Do as Michael suggested and seek a dermatologist. They will be able to tell much better than we can and are medically trained. Only doctors are doctors.

thank you. Will do

And no to polysporin as well, about 13% of the poulation are actually alerrgic to the components of Pplysporin. It shouldnt be used on electrolysis wounds unless directed by a physician. It’s not necessary and can cause complications to healing. Usually the best thing to put on your skin post electrolysis is nothing at all, or possibly some refridgerated Aloe.

I did use polysporin the night after my session with her because with my old electrologist i was using it for months and it actually helped with scaring to fade faster and clear. so my only guess here bacteria contamination. which im praying can somehow go away… it’s spreading to other areas she touched every day. i just wanted to know if it was possible for my skin to ever go back.

With total and absolute certainty, your skin will return to full normal. I’m guessing that you will have to be on antibiotics for a certain amount of time … and this will certainly clear up. (I don’t want to speculate and give you more things to freak you out … )

Bottom line, you’ll be fine. Question: Why does it take a long time to get an appointment? Maybe just see your general practitioner … these doctors also know the correct medicine to prescribe for skin problems like this.

My guess is that 2-months after a treatment and still getting new lesions? The problem may have been encouraged by electrolysis … but, not the result of electrolysis.

Amoxicillin, Augmentin or Keflex (my favorite). Zithromax is nice because you’re done quickly (5-days if I remember correctly). You have some sort of bacterial infection … these drugs will clear you up FAST … don’t worry … no possibility of scars or any other lasting problem. I promise.

Thank you so much for the response. I’m feeling a little relieved to hear there’s a possibility this problem can go away. It has been over 2 months and yes i get new long lasting lesions, white headed cysts that form etc. and reoccurrence of the lesions in the same spots. Only very few have settled to a red scar thats a bit raised.
I am not big on antibiotics. I try to avoid it because of certain side effects, but if that is my only hope then i will have no choice. i will get into contact with my primary doctor.

Medication is there when it’s needed. At this point “natural products” aren’t going to work for you. Don’t wait on this!

Not to put too much fear mongering on it, but my GUESS is you have a staph infection. You’re not going to cure this with “natural products.” Such infections can spread quickly and be detrimental. Left unchecked they can create ‘crater-like’ scars. Get your butt to your doctor like-yesterday! If you have an “Urgent Care” in your City … go there. These facilities have terrific doctors and, actually, what you probably have is EASY to cure quickly. Keep us informed …Keflex seems to have great results with skin infections and less “side effects.” Other meds are fine too. Put this in professional hands … get going!

I have one PCOS client who insists on not doing anything about her cyctic Acne induced by PCOS. While I respect this, it’s difficult to not tell them it will likely result in pock marks and ice pick scars.
A Staph infection was also my best theory, but again, only Doctors are Doctors. I’m not a doctor. So go see one!

So far i’m not seeing any ice picks scars while it may come on later which im worried about now too. Once these lesions finally drain after weeks i am left with red scars that do not fade. I went to my doctor yesterday and she gave me a topical antibiotic cream to use for 1 week, if no improvement she told me to come to her again and im assuming then she’ll give me antibiotics… at this point im just hoping it’s not a detrimental infection like Bono mentioned that will affect my inner body. will keep posted

How about tetracycline? the doctor prescribed me this one and you never mentioned it, just wanted to have someone’s second opinion on this antibiotic , are you familiar with this one?

very common and used for skin infections (acne too).

Thank you for the reply. I hope the antibiotic will help you. May I please ask are you keep getting electrolysis at the minute or are you taking a break from the treatment?

Thank you. I am going to take a break until I see enough improvement because i dont want any bacteria to spread. Has antibiotics helped you before if you don’t mind answering?
