I’ve been previously on tetracycline for 8 weeks. Like yourself I’ve took a break from electrolysis while on antibiotic. But tbh now when I look back I wish I didn’t I thought after reading somewhere tetracycline could make me more prone to burns and make my skin more sensitive. I don’t know if that’s true or not but still freaked me out.
Let me clarify something my condition looked different to yours but I guess tetracycline is used to treat all sort of acne problems. On top of it I suffer from PCOS and as I get older I’m getting new health problems. I think I seen in your post it says you don’t think you have hormone imbalance, if I may suggest anything ask for a scan. I don’t have any hormonal imbalance either but my ovaries showed multiple follicles. Other thing is you might be sensitive to androgen/testosterone and that’s why you suffer from unwanted hair growth. Like yourself I didn’t suffer from acne till I started electrolysis. I would say some sort of bacteria find our skin very appealing lol
The reason i have hair is because of laser induced hair from laser. i never had thick hairs before, only fine hairs. thats the reason why im doing electrolysis now… i was doing it with another lady for months and my skin was fine. she was zapping hairs properly. I tried a different electrologist in my city and this happened to my face after. it’s not from hormonal because i did tests for it everything was balanced.
For some reason i am now getting ongoing painful pimples/bumps after doing electrolysis with that one lady Only on the areas she touched. i am assuming she did not take the right precautions and now i have bacterial infections.
Has the tetracycline helped your skin though?
Sadly not. But the way I said previously my skin problem is different to yours. So please don’t panic and stick with tetracycline.
Keep us posted on what the doctors diagnosed and gave you for treatment.
i was allergic to the antibiotic and they swabbed my skin to see if there are any infections to a lab. Test came back and no infections were present. A dermatologist gave me tretinoin cream (a retinoid) I think he misdiagnosed me as for just simple acne. But i am using the tretinoin in hopes for the acne inflammations and scars to settle down. I knew scars or infections can occur with electrolysis but never in my years did i think it can cause acne it’s very weird. the hairs that were zapped are no longer seen with hair but cysts/lesions/raised scars and honestly i rather have had hair than this skin issue
Interesting situation. At least your tests came back negative for skin infections and that’s important. Tretinoin take 3 months to start seeing results and be prepared to have more dry, flaky skin from it at first.
I did the test right after being on antibiotic for 2 weeks tho, not sure if it would show if i had an infection after being on it? hopefully tretinoin works for me even though i doubt it. i think the hairs that were zapped were damaged not destroyed. very confused as to why im getting ongoing lesions and cysts after doing electrolysis on those areas. rather have scars than these bumps on my skin. guess im just unlucky
Hi. I just wanted to ask if there were an update to your case?
I had sideburns done and after 3 days its red and have pustules with yellow pus inside. Would this be an infection?
Either u get infected during the procedure or your treated area may be susceptible to irritation or infection for around 48 hours after any skin penetration procedure. You may apply the area with povidone iodine (Betadine), if needed.
Following your treatment, do not touch or scratch the area treated! Microorganisms are on everything and everywhere. By touching your treated area may cause infection.
You can routinely take shower and washing treated area with mild neutral-pH soap with cold or lukewarm water. No scrubbing, no exfoliation, no loofah for at least 4 weeks after the treatment.
Do not wear make-up over the treated area for at least 48 hours.
Avoid perfume or alcohol-based products. They irritate your skin & delay healing. You can apply non-alcohol containing aloe vera gel, if needed. Ensure it’s not fake aloe vera products.
Or apply aloe vera gel, Sudocrem, anti-septic cream, hydrogel or silicon gel to the treated area at least 2 consecutive nights after your treatment. This will help your skin heal even faster, especially facial areas. Many physicians and dermatologists don’t recommend the routine use of steroids and antibiotics.
Avoid excessive heat & frictions over treated area, such as intense exercise that cause sweating, no sauna, no chafing fabric for at least 48 hrs after treatments. Sweat can cause microorganisms to enter into the open follicles and cause infection. Exercise before your electrolysis appointment instead of afterwards. These can delay healing.
Avoid make-up for at least 48 hrs.
Ensure clean pillow cases and etc. Ensure makeup tools such as brush, sponge and etc. are clean.
Your hair can also cause this.
