red hair gone black

So, I have been going to electrolysis for 1 day a week for 30 mins for 8 weeks now. I finally starting to notice a difference in the area I wanted to work on. I also stated any other dark hairs you might see. Well she must be working on other hairs as well because my neck is a lot of dark hair growth on it now. my hair is red and blonde so it is bleached from the sun. when I started this I was plucking some hair so they were dark which I can tell are gone now. However, now I have more dark hairs than before. I don’t want to keep going weekly and I didn’t want to spread out so to speak just focus on dark hairs.

random comment. I just started notice hair removal in the area I wanted to be focused on should it be taking her 8 weeks to get this? I am tempted to try another person. I don’t feel her plucking but sometimes I know she does since I can feel the zapper thing in one spot and I feel her in another hair picking away with tweezers. I wonder if she does this to keep me coming back?

Hmm this is something I’m curious about also. Sometimes when I’ve gotten zapping I feel them zapping one hair and then plucking away at several with the tweezers afterward …it’s always baffled me as well. Whats happening there?

I would like to know why they are coming in dark lol… which has me wondering if she is plucking. I look worse than I even started and trust me I stare at myself daily. I am starting to honestly regret this I feel totally embarrassed in public. I look clear when im done then within a week its all back or more! lol

Do the hairs that are now dark feel much finer than before? Sometimes hair can darken as it weakens. This is particurarly obvious when treating very strong grey hairs.

I think so but I kind of trimmed them with you know those man trimmer things lol… are those bad to use? anyway that I know makes me feel stubbly but idk I guess it could feel thinner never paid much attention. The ones where she zapped my side burns feel finer.

So since your saying it is possible it is being weakened does that mean the next treatment it should be dead? lol

you know now that I am feeling it im not sure if they are finer I just feel stubblyness if that is a word. I think I will need to chat my electrolysis and see what is going on. I know she is zapping them so to speak but maybe not long enough.

Trimming makes the hairs feel coarse and stubbly so it is not clear what is happening here. Do you get a complete clearing on each visit?

From the dark hairs yes I get clearing. I can feel it smooth under my chin which was my main focus but now I can obviously see she spread out. The smoothness will last about 2 to three days then I go on Tuesday and by Saturday its like oh god its all back and that isn’t exaggerating lol

Were you tweezing?waxing these hairs prior to commencing electrolysis Treatment? If so, how often? On a facial area it takes about 9 months for every single hair to surface.

I was tweezing but only dark hairs. Honestly I don’t think the hairs that I can see now are hairs I plucked but who knows right? so I guess it could be possible. I was doing it everyday for over a year at least.

If this is really happening, and this is not just your impression, I wonder why she does this. A few years ago I read that there are practitioners pulling untreated hairs when they are in telogen. Could this be the reason? I would ask for explanations before continuing treatment with this person.

Moreover, I do not think you can change the color of hair with electrolysis. Still if from white (gray) to black, or vice versa. But from red to black? no, I think that they are different hairs. But, of course, I could be wrong.

When I plucked it came back darker. So I assume same concept. I go Tuesday so I will ask her.

You sound very much like me when I started out about 3 months in. You will see more hairs than you thought you had because like me you plucked and hairs are so close to each other they look like the same hair but can’t.
I takes 6 weeks to 3 months for a hair to regrow after plucking so if anything grows between its a different hair.

My hair issue was just underneath my chin at the front however since clearing the dark ones I saw more actually on the bottom of my chin not underneath that I cleared and then I spotted some right under neath the chin.
I now have a couple of long blonde ones under the chin I don’t think anyone else would notice but me and my now hair eyes.

Once you start out doing electrolysis you do notice more hairs than you thought you had, you are looking a heck of a lot more intense to make sure she’s cleared them all and what you want clearing for next appointment, you are picking up on things you wouldn’t have noticed so much before.

I told my electrolysis at first appointment I only want the really dark black thick ones gone there were 6 on my chin at time, since going though the process I have ended up having the thinner ones cleared too, what used to concern you is gone and you are now seeing other area’s that concern you because you aren’t focused on what was their before if that makes sense.

It is what they call hair sight.
I have been going since August 2013 and my nipples are complete my chin what I set out to do is gone I just deal with very thin ones now that having a conversation with someone I know are not going to worry about but I want gone for my own peace.

I’ve had a couple cleared of my happy trail and a random one of my hand, I am also considering having above and between eye brows done because I know what I’ve had done works and has changed my life.

You are only just starting out keep the faith you have a long way to go yet x

ugh I am so impatient. Mainly because I worry if I can see it I know others can as well. I work two jobs one at a desk which I can hide in but the other is retail. Nobody has said anything and my man I ask him to tell me if he sees them he says he never has before and still doesn’t notice but sometimes I wonder if he is just saying that lol… but I am like u never noticed cuz I plucked those babies haha.

I went today and she removed all the hair that was bothering me. So should it stay gone? I feel like usually what happens is by Friday or Saturday it is all back and by the time my apt comes Tuesday or Wednesdays I am so embarrassed to go out. I just feel like if they are removed it should stay gone.

If she is doing proper electrolysis (or even a good waxing job) the hairs you see coming in during the week are NOT the same hairs (as they’ve been removed by the root). It’s just new hair coming through. Sorry, nothing you can do about that but be consistent with your appointments, and have them more often at first if you need to. When I started electrolysis, I went weekly to deal with all the dark, black hairs that grew through (after a few years of plucking) but now I don’t get any dark black hairs, just light brown hairs, and fewer of those. I go every three or four weeks now, and it’s on newer areas.

If you are plucking five or six hairs each day, that’s 35 - 40 hairs per week growing in. That’s why you’re seeing new hairs coming through all the time at the moment. Once it’s under control things will be less hectic.

I boil when I hear the words “it’s all back in a week” or even a month! Treated hair or plucked hair cannot grow back in that short of time! If it broke off in the middle, then yes, it can be visible in a week, but that is the only possibility.

A properly treated hair, with electrolysis, does not come back. It is new hair you are seeing. It’s like turning pages in a book. You have to go page by page (hair cycle by hair cycle) in order to get to the end. Patience!

He he he …

See, I start my day reading what Dee and Jossie have said, and then I feel happy for the whole rest of the day … it’s ALL about “oh yeah, I’m not the ‘only one’.”

Always funny to me that all clients, during the consultation, hear only the following: swelling, redness, scabs, REGROWTH and pain. *Mostly they hear “regrowth!” That term sticks in the old noodle and you can never get it out.

They NEVER hear “hair cycles,” and from the instant you touch their skin, every hair they see from then on is YOUR FAULT because “it all grew back!”

Please don’t feel “bad” either “rodeogal” because this is pretty much 100% with every client. It’s just what happens and we are all used to it.
