Who has experience with the new Dectro Apilus xCell? Besides the new age look, and being “more powerful” new modes are MeloFlash and SyncroBlend. How much of improvement does this bring into hair zapping.

One would have to try it to form any opinion it seems a brand new machine so unlikely anyone would have one yet to form an opinion. It’s likely expensive enough to give any new electrologist pause, just saying.
Just looking at the device it looks like it’s designed to compete with Silouette tone 5 HD. Both are touch screens and feature new treatment modalities.
What I will say for the Xcell is that it’s terribly non-specific on a lot of things. For example it talks about doing 11 other types of treatments, but not what those things are. One advantage that the silouete tone had was the ability to connect with wifi and update programs on the fly, it, not clear that the Xcell has wireless connectivity it talks about customizing programs but not how or if they are actually updated. I do like however that it’s a 27.12 mhz machine, so probably similar treatments to a platinum or pure. Client files, I have to tell you , I find completely un-useful. While doing things like billing through a machine might seem a good idea in theory in practise most of the time you just want to start the machine with the correct treatment settings, and dont care about statistics or billing. I have the ability to do these files on my SM-500 and I dont use it most of the time.
Any word on how many arms and legs one must pay to obtain one of these?

I have the Xcell pro. if your used to the Platinum or the Pure it can do those settings plus more… whats new is a blend setting which I havent played with yet… But the new Mello Flash in the thermolysis side i really like. The timing is in .00S (1/100 of a second) and you can have pulses like in Pico flash. Im really liking it for dry body hairs… i like the pre-sets in the Xcell much better than the platinum also you can go all the way up to 9. With the platinum i felt like id never go higher than 5. some would say its a colder machine but what good is the higher settings if you never use them… another thing with synchro is on the Xcell you can adjust the timing between the pico flashes to help make it more comfortable. yes it lowers the EL but sometimes thats all you need to do to make it comfortable without going to a different mode. with the client files i see that it could be very useful in tracking clients progress and how long it takes you to do areas over time… I am working on things that could be tweaked and letting Canada know how to make it a better program for us zappers. so far i find my self stroking it calling it “my precious”
it’s terribly non-specific on a lot of things
I think this link has more information:
izapem, would you mind telling us about what they cost if you own one?

its $11,000 but i got a early bird deal for $10,000
I’m in Oak Park IL 10 miles west of the Chicago Loop. If anyone wants to come and play with it let me know and ya can come on by.
Thats also true with the Platinum or the Pure… For now I have all three machines.
ah well at $11000 I’m afraid I’ll have to admire them from the sidelines

There are lots of epilators that do a wonderful job of zapping hair… but i do love my bells-n-whistles
If they made a whole new model because they came up with 2 new treatment modes, I don’t think they intended for machines to be able to update programs on the fly. But manufacturers should think about electrologists who already spent 10 grand on previous “top of the line” units. Updating programs with new modes would be smarter than expecting people to buy a whole new unit every 5-10 years.
Aside from the fact that mine broke after three weeks I love it. What an awesome machine, and pretty too. I don’t know if I would go as far as precious though :)Maybe, it puts the lotion on Just loving how user friendly it is. I was up to normal speed within a few days of using it. It really does cook a little differently than the Platinum, cold but it doesn’t matter. I’m finding that I really like Meloflash for trans work, the redness and swelling is significantly less. I have had several clients send me email’s of joy. There’s a few things I don’t like but they have absolutely nothing to do with cooking. I love that word cooking, I feel like I’m Breaking Bad. \m/
Fenix, they did more than add two new modes. The levels are totally different than the Platinum based on feedback from electrologists over the years. The timer goes well beyond 256 minutes before it resets, based on Electrologist feedback over the years . The printer is faster and quieter and easy to load. The touch screen is very super nice and it feels like you are using a big iPhone. I am really into needing the client data and a management system. I use that kind of feature heavily. With the xCell, when a treatment is finished, it has the insertion count for all the individual areas worked on. If you did lip work it will say 249 insertions, breast work may say 153 insertions, arms - 924 insertions. I like tracking the numbers, but others may not care.
If one doesn’t need this extra stuff or don’t have the funds to purchase an xCell and they want something that is more basic, with excellent quality, I have a recommendation or two in mind that I have personally used, one being the Instantron Elite - Spectrum. The Spectrum is a Top dog epilator, minus a lot of bells and whistles that a lot of electrologists find more appealing. You choose what to use based on personal preference. This is not an epilator competition.
I see. It’s great that they’re so involved and committed to improve treatment quality with less discomfort to the patient.
… which reminds me to my experience with the pure. Completly inacceptable regarding the price. Would actually be inacceptable if it cost “only” 1/3rd of its present tag.
That adjustable internal synchro timing, however, sounds really interesting. I expect that to some degree it can be used to lower the ELs to release a hair (in a way similar to synchro vs picoflash - You need similar intensities but synchro ELs are smaller due to the time gaps).
The only reason I was able to afford such a fine piece of equipment was due to a screaming deal. The trade in value on my Platinum was awesome, then the extra $1,000 discount from Dectro. I paid $5,500 which is still pretty expensive but worth every dime. It is one fine machine.
I’ve been using the Apilus Platinum Pure for around 5 years now and I’m more than happy with it, it is an excellant unit. However I would be really interested in client feed back on the Xcell by Dectro. What is your experience as a client in sensation and skin reaction, I’ve have considered getting the Xcell but as of yet I haven’t been convienced that it is that much superior to the Platinum Pure.
As a body work client, I have received excellent treatments from both machines. For me, not much difference with sensation or skin reaction between the two. Either way, my electrologist uses sufficiently strong (but safe) settings for my stubborn hair, my skin looks “angry” for a few days, but then it’s all good…clear healthy skin and the hair is gone. The advantage with the newer machine is that the MeloFlash mode allows my electrologist to proceed through a session with much less need to tweak settings back and forth for dehydrated vs adequately hydrated areas.
I still want to get a platinum pure to work with. I’d be interested to hear if anyone has one they are selling for a reasonable price. I’m poor though, so not sure when I could afford it…

Thanks for the reply Sigma, I’m hoping to try out the Xcell early next year.
Seana the Platinum Pure is amazing I think you would love all choices that this machine gives.
hi Seana,
it took some years until i was able to afford mine. During those years i found it more important to invest in a strong medical loupe.
BTW: each simple manual thermolysis or blend machine allows to work safe, fast and efficient. Ok, more painful that the Pure and not as fast, but useful. In blend You might use Michael’s “body technique”, and in thermolysis You count “twen-ty”, release the pedal and adjust the intensity accordingly. Counting “twen-ty” will give You a surprisingly consistant duration of the pulse of about 0.5 secs.
Something else: a few weeks ago i ran my Pure side by side to an Instantron Elite Spectrum - one client. Timing was 0.2 secs, probe a Laurier tapered size 4 (not an IBP), hairs were medium strong hairs of a woman’s anxilla. Result: best regarding smoothness and sensation the Pure in Synchro, clearly, followed by the Instantron, which was clearly better then the Pure in Multiplex. (And both were clearly better than my Apilus Junior which did not participate in the test…)
So the Elite Spectrum, especially the newer model which allows for timings shorter than 0.4 secs, might be an interesting option for Your business as well.
