New from Dectro ?

I’m interested of course to hear all of this.

much of my work has been in multiplex blend. I’ve done some thermolysis on a couple clients, but always felt I could not accomplish with thermolysis the kill rate that I accomplished with blend. Perhaps its lack of confidence but I’m also not really at all happy with the implementation of thermolysis on my older SM-500 machine. I found the flash settings ineffective, and the timing on multiplex thermolysis really hard to control .

My motivation to go towards the pure is largely picoflash and client comfort. I’m going to in all likelyhood be doing a lot more thermolysis coming up and my primary concern is efficiency and client comfort. I just need to find one at something I can afford and then figure out how to pay for it. The optics point is well taken, I’ve already been offered a microscope at a good price, I just have to figure out how to pay for it.Surely there’s a couch I can rummage for change around somewhere.

I’ve thought of adding a manual machine as well as I dont feel I have the same control over the currents with a computerized epilator. I’m all about experimentation as well and I dont think any of the apilus implementations lend themselves to performing fast blend. I’m poor though so I cant always afford new toys. What I’ve got I’ve had to pay for myself, because the income wasnt there from treatments to pay for them.

I’m entering an entirely new world in performing electrolysis. I am fortunate to be working with someone experienced in delivering that client experience and who has a well appointed space all set up.Adding a few new technologies is inevitable, so I appreciate the feedback.

I have received two treatments of thermolysis using Instantron Elite “back-up” machines (not sure of the models of the machines, settings, etc.). In my judgment, the treatments were excellent, on the same par with the Platinum and the XCell. This is just my experience, but I remember that the Instrantron treatments were slightly more comfortable…

Because of the latter You should definitely go synchro (which requires a hardware upgrade) - i am doing comparative tests quite frequently, and all of my clients find pico the least comfortable, except maybe on super fine upper lip hair.

I just bought my 2nd Pure with synchro module (and am therefore motivated to continue my pending DIY clearance at home  )

my primary concern is efficiency and client comfort.

And You remember Josefa’s older videos / dokus here? Mostly Multiplex (which is actually still my preferred mode for fine hairs).

I just need to find one at something I can afford and then figure out how to pay for it.

Mhmm, i invested not before i actually had the money available. That’s why i gave hints for simple machines. On a 13 MHz Apilus flash with timings around 0.16 secs were what i preferred after extensive testing on my own legs. Go to pulsed blend, set the galvanics to 0 and the time to 1 sec. Pulse length 0.16, 5 pulses. Or 4 pulses of 0.2-0.22 secs. Be prepared to interrupt the pulse (leave the pedal) on mor or less every shot: use 2 pulses for the average hair, 1 for the finest and 3-4 for the few fat whiskers.
Fast and efficient, one of my favorite modalities on the Junior.

But anyway - GET A STRONG LOUPE! This improved my work more the the switch to the Pure. You can import them for about 150 $ from China. Ugly, but optically surprisingly good. On the long term the backup device You will urgently need if You get Your full income from electrolysis.

I’ve thought of adding a manual machine as well as I dont feel I have the same control over the currents with a computerized epilator.

You can always use computerized epilator like a manual machine if the timing is sufficiently long. And You have the advantage of chosing a maximum time that will prevent permanent damage to the skin in case of an error.

So: stick to Your machine and simply try make the best of it until You can easily upgrade. That needed to my my way as well and believe me, there were times when i did not know what to eat the next day.

Hi Beate, great getting this kind of feed back client comfort really is the ‘holy grail’ of electrolysis. Are you programming you own settings on the Apilus PP or using the presets? Particularly with the synchro mode to get the clients comfort do you need to make adjustments? Have you had the opportunity to try the Xcell yet?

Hi Mairi, no, i do not have had acces to an Xcell. And I cannot afford it; the 2nd Pure already hurt.
I have never used any presets on the Pure. When i started with it, some collegues here were so nice and gave me hints on their settings.

Thank goodness for our colleagues yourself included Beate sharing their settings, most Apilus PP presets do need adjusting I like the fact that I can make such fine tuning depending on the client and the condition of the skin. It just takes time to get to know the unit. I have read that the Xcell presets are better though I’m still not convinced it’s worth upgrading from the APP.

Jots down settings provided by beate for further experimentation, and not for the first time!

Beate has been a constant source of information most especially since we worked with similar equipment. She has been an awesome source for information in some of my more experimental ventures.

Magnification has to be tops on my “equipment upgrade” list. I do have an associate who has offered up a zeiss microscope at a for me price, but I need to pay for it a not insubstantial amount . For the moment until I can afford that then it’s my 5 diopter loop which has served me well so far but that’s the upgrade path I’m looking at.

My ( not current and from 2013) price list from dectro lists the apilus Platinum at $7775 the synchro plus option at $450 and the platinum pure at $6595

I guess I dont understand the differences well enough. From what beate is saying synchro is the option to have so is that only available on the platinum with an option or is it also built in or available on the pure?

In looking at used machines, I am seeing a buttload of seniors and senior 2’s but I am hard pressed to come across a Platinum or Platinum pure. I suspect that is because of the Xcell’s price tag and lack of comparative advantage. Dee seems to really like hers though. There is no way I could afford one anytime soon. I’ve got it in my mind that to provide the best client experience in terms of comfort the 27 mhz epilator is the way to go. So I’ve got my eyes out .

Seana.

Seana If you get the Apilus PP get the sychro option you will be very impressed, infact I look forward to hear about your opinion, please do not be put off in the first few treatments it can be a quite a challenge when you first use- compare it to a typewriter verses a laptop both will type a letter but it will be a very different experience.
Hope you manage to get a APP in your price bracket soon

Mairi, great advice. Those that use Synchro thermolysis find it to be an indispensable part of their toolbox. Dectro brought out the big guns for those huge “tough guy” hairs. Getting over a hundred micro pulses in less than a second is the machine gun strategy that makes the biggest and badest hairs slide out with no fanfare and the regrowth rate is much like the result one gets with multi-probe galvanic that takes minutes per hair as opposed to less than a second per hair for Synchro thermolysis.

ya all are teasing me now !
