Oh yes, sorry! Got the gunk out and gave it a zap with electrolysis to remove the hair.
Thank you for your reply!
Do you know what type of needle did she use for this purpose? Insulated or not?
This electrologist just used gold ballet needles.
Josefa did the same for my sister on her forehead. She would say that the ‘capsule’ of the pimple had to be removed. Josefa used the Laurier IBP throughout.
Hi stoppit$tidyup…I found calamine lotion to be very effective in reducing redness, swelling and the infection after electrolysis…it really works.Whats your opinion stopit$tidyup?
I want to tell everyone here regarding electrolysis…Dont be afraid of electrolysis if scabbing is in your mind.Let me tell you…scabbing is a part of body defence to seal the open pore and prevent from infection and allow healing…its natures way.Every person has his or her own defence system…some dont scab, some scab minimally and some scab more…its your unique skin and you never know how it will react.First,Dont rub vigourously on the areas which are scabbed…dont pic them…let them fell them of their own and keeping them moist allow rapid falling of scabs but its not necessary step.Sometimes pigmentation may be seen where scabs are present but mostly it fades with time, generally 2-3 months.
Hi madhu,
I have actually never used it. When I had electrolysis locally - short treatments, my swelling and redness was gone in an hour.
When I had this extensive treatment, the whole lower half of the face was swollen like I had nuts hidden away in my cheeks. I didn’t use anything and it went down over 2-3 days.
But yes, I have heard people recommend it and it is definitely something to try if you feel the need!
You are also right about scabbing. But every case is different and also depends on modality, type of probes, skill of the electrologist and the type of hair being removed.
For example, considering thermolysis, I imagine scabbing when treating a shallow follicle is much more likely than treating a deep follicle?
When I was having those short, weekly treatments using blend, I would not get any scabbing and preferred not to have it. Even a 1 hour treatment would result in not a single scab. My electrologist told me from the beginning that if she used thermolysis on my face, I would most likely scab. I was having appointments often before work or in the middle of the week. At that time was not open about my hair removal so did not wish anyone to know about my treatment.
Take in comparison my sister. She started electrolysis during her summer holiday and scabbing was less of a concern. We were more concerned with removing as much hair as possible in a given session. Given the electrologist was about twice as fast in thermolysis, we chose this. The scabbing wasn’t a big deal but it did occur in every treated follicle. When she would have blend instead (our electrologist preferred this for ‘stronger’ hairs), she would like me, not get any scabbing.
yes…I agree with you that blend will not cause scabbing as in it very less heat is produced and it is lye which kills the follicle. My electrologist uses only thermolysis so i dont have much option of blend. But She is so experienced…she has all her clients very happy with it.I was initially very reluctantant for thermolysis but my skin reacted very well…So I dont mind it.Please post some latest pics of yours and your sister electrolysis progress…You must be thinking why I want to see them.It gives me moral boost…I really mean. Now I am fan of electrolysis.take care…have a nice time.
I don’t find calamine lotion does anything for redness or swelling and it’s certainly not got any anti-bacterial properties like tea tree oil to prevent infection. However, it does soothe the skin from itching, which is intolerable after treating legs, immediately after application and thus has stopped me from clawing my own leg skin off. It also makes the skin feel instantly cooler too, if you find the heat in your skin unbearable/painful as well.
Look for another boyfriend.
Seriously.
Any time a guy ever made any disparaging comments about any part of me, eventually it turned out he was the wrong guy.
thanks lol…
Your legs look fine to me. Whatever he doesn’t like about them… must be something really small.
Let’s see a picture of his legs.
Agree with impossible.
thanks a lot to all my dear friends…actually ,I used to get a lot of compliments for my legs from my friends…But when my boyfriend said like that i felt so depressed…But now I feel confident. This forum is such a special place where I get so much comfort.I love you all.
Your legs are fine.
And hey, you were going to give me the contact details of your electrologist? What happened?
Hi all,
Recently returned from Spain after a year’s wait.
We both continued work on our faces as well as started new areas.
Previously my sister mostly had work performed on her sideburns, upper lip and forehead. We never had the time really work on the bleached fuzz on the beard area. Since the sideburns and upper lip only required a short amount of time to clear, Josefa could really get going on the rest. Not to mention, give her a new hairline (or should I say forehead :p)
This photo is of the left side of my sister’s face, taken 2 days after our return. The face was worked on over 5 days, with most of the work carried out in the first two days and a little work done daily on the last three days.
Looking through my photos I realised that the last time I took a photo it was from the other side of her face, so that is all I have. The hair growth was similar on both sides, so it gives you an idea at least. This photo was from May 2012 and you can see the sideburn area that was cleared previously.
My face
This first photo is on return from the 2011 trip where some 6-7 hours were carried out on the face and neck.
This photo is on return from this (2012) trip were some 10-12 hours were carried out on the face and neck.
I have made comments in the Laurier thread:

You people are making great progress…I wish you all the best.I am also making great progress too…now I am down to 1 hour work on face and neck every month (full clearance)…the hairs which are are coming are much fine now.I will be posting the pics too soon.Yup I am seeing some hyperpigmentation in few areas i hope it fades with time.
I’m in the final “lap” of one of my most difficult cases ever: nearly a full beard on a wonderful woman. Yesterday we did 20-minutes and cleared everything off (it’s been a month of no shaving and “only the fine hairs are showing”). I’m also at the same point with my leg case … down to only fine hairs.
So, what are these “fine hairs” now that the beard hairs have been removed?
When the woman was shaving, we never saw “fine hairs.” But now, that’s all we see. Did the electrolysis turn the beard hairs into fine hairs? Lots of people think that’s what happened, and in some cases that might be the case. But consider the following:
Fine hairs grow much slower than large terminal hairs. When you shave, the fine hairs never have a chance to show themselves: they stay at skin level while the giant hairs grow in like tree trunks. Once the “redwoods” are gone and you stop shaving, you now have given the fine hairs time to visibly grow in. We call this emerging fluff: “undergrowth.” These hairs were always there, you just didn’t see them.
I think the “breaking down” theory was basically misreading the results of electrolysis. Yes, some hairs will miniaturize from being only partially destroyed … but “undergrowth” is probably what most people experience.
And, that’s the “fine hairs” story. It’s a VERY good thing!
