My sister's electrolysis diary

Okay these pics are not great but I want to show you healing.

I hope Josefa can contribute some treatment details. I think I had about two hours on the neck area. The hairs were shallow and mostly in telogen. The hairs were also extremely dense, with two hairs often coming out together.

This is my under chin area before treatment for an idea of the kind of hair Josefa was tackling:

This photo was taken 5 days after treatment when the scabs had fully formed. This was in the bathroom at work just to let you know that I was not hiding away - no one really noticed until I lifted my chin up to show them:

And this photo was on 14th November 2011 (so just under 7 weeks later) and all that was remaining were a few spots/patches of pigmentation:

They have not completely gone yet and I imagine this last bit will take a while but they are not noticeable at all.

Usually it takes a long time for pigmentation to fade on my skin. After I stopped getting acne, it took 2-3 years for all the scars to complete fade away. So comparatively, I am surprised how quickly this pigmentation faded. I guess because it was not ‘deep’.

The only down side to this development, is that I don’t get to be your tour guide while you visit Niagara Falls.

James - I could not come to the States and not visit you if you’d have me. I just hope I get a chance to travel again soon.

I should add, those 2 hours only allowed for the neck area to be partially cleared. Maybe 50%? I did not anticipate that it was going to be such a big task so did not schedule enough time for it. I thought my hairs were only long until Josefa informed me that this area was also very dense. But nevertheless, it’s been a great reduction for now.

Hi all,

A photo update.

As a reminder, this was my sister’s sideburn area on 2nd September 2011 (4 months after the first clearance and just before travelling for the second):

This is the area on 6th Feb 2012 (20 weeks after 2nd clearance; just shy of 5 months):

Please note the reduced appearance of the indented scars from acne. Next time, we can finally move on to removing the bleached fuzz from the beard area.

Hi all,

Thought I’d put up a few more pics.

These were taken on 23rd September 2011 (the day after treatment). I had about 2 hours work done on the neck and 2 on either side of the face.

This is not from the same camera, nor the same lighting but I hope you can get an idea. I thought the pigmentation had faded but taking a photo in direct sunlight shows there is still a bit of brownishness left. The mark in the blue circle is from a recent spot, not electrolysis. You can also see that the treated areas have remained more or less clear!
8th April 2012:

In the phone pics a few posts above, one can see how dark the PIH was.

Great success Stoppit.
I have to say that you look great. you have beautiful skin and beautiful dark hair (they look like mine, long and black :))
The facial hair are very very very little noticeable.

Are you doing electro right now? What are you treating?

Thanks samafe

My hair is quite dense and many were quite long. The neck is much better now, the areas that Josefa mostly worked on had the worst part of the hair - long (over 5mm in length) and many times she would treat a follicle and two hairs would come out. The long hairs on the jawline and cheeks were also removed.

I am not having any electrolysis at the moment. I saw Josefa last September and we did about a total of 6 hours on the face and neck. I will be seeing her again later this year and we will hopefully finish the work. So for example, the rest of the neck will later look like the areas she treated last time. That’s probably sufficient reduction in hairs to make me content :stuck_out_tongue:

I will also be doing my chest area. Finishing my underarms (will take less than 5 minutes to clear). A second clearance on the hands and fingers and feet and toes. And hopefully, treat my arms. I have had Laser on my arms previously but I would like to finish the work with electrolysis.

Hi James, pls wer are you located? Is it anywhere around philadelphia or marlyland or texas or even hamilton ontario canada.I am really considering travelling to come see you for treatment for a month.

or will you be coming to the uk anytime soon?

looking good stoppit! Josefa - Que arte tienes!!

Hey lansjd, esa expresión es muy del Sur!. Apuesto a que no tiene traducción al catalán. Thank you

Petonets

It has almost been eight months since my sister had her hands cleared.

Reminder of what it looked like before treatment:

What it looks like now:

Great work!

Did she get electrolysis on her fingers too?

Another thing I was wondering about were pimples/bumps. You mentioned somewhere that her forehead cleared of acne after hair was removed from there.

I have a bad problem not only on my face, but my chest and upper arms (the back is a whole different story! )

I notice that I either get ingrown hair which cause inflammation and little-medium papules or sometimes hair still grows out but the base is inflamed anyway. And they they of course leave marks. This doesn’t happen on my tummy or thighs which are other areas covered with vellus and terminal hair respectively. The obvious reason seems to be that there is much greater oil production on my chest and arms.

Do you think electrolysis will solve the chest and upper arm problem (at least majority of it)? Or the oil is the main problem? It’s terrible. I’ve been very limited in the clothes I buy in all these years.I only look for small necks so that my spotty chest isn’t see by others.

Re: fingers: yup. i had the same too.

can’t find a before photo of the fingers but assume they had similar thickish hairs as the back of the hand. one of the photos on the previous pages shows her hand and fingers some days after treatment and you can see the little scabs.

Definitely. Maybe Josefa can shed some light on why this happens.

But the first person to do something about it was my London electrologist. She removed hairs in the center of my chest in spots where I would constantly have pimples in the same place. She’d squeeze a pimple and then remove the hair that was in the same spot. It helped a lot in regards to lessening the pimples. I also had a lot of pigmentation from the area nearly always having spots and this finally allowed it to heal.

Since Josefa has done some more work there - about an hour, I’ve not had a pimple/spot since.

My sister needs the same done this time as she gets spots all over the chest and towards the neck, as well as back.

I was expecting them to go away with age but recently started thinking that the hair might actually be the culprit. They are extremely thin and soft but dense, dark and visible. Thanks!

Same here. Long after my facial acne went away I was still having problems with the centre of the chest area.

My hair pattern sounds the same, very thin and soft but dense. I bleach them so they are not dark and too visible :stuck_out_tongue:

Hi Stoppit! Did your London electrologist remove a hair by zapping it with electrolysis after squeezing a pimple?
