My Electrolysis Journey

Hi Pokka,

Hope you had a good Christmas and New Years

It’s great to see your pics. I wasn’t sure if the angry areas were spots or due to electrolysis but other than that, wow! A good amount of hair has been cleared and you can certainly see the difference. Your skin is looking great in some areas and the rest will follow I’m sure.

As for the recessed marks, I hope they will go too. As I’ve mentioned elsewhere, I had a similar one after a millia treatment that went away after about 2 weeks. I may have some from epilation but I really don’t know - never looked at my skin as closely as that picture is. I mean, I do hope yours smooth out but as you said, it’s not visible to you normally or to anyone else whereas the hair is, so I don’t even think they are a big deal.

As for the Aloe… you may as well get the plant! My grandmother used to keep one for skin emergencies

Well, what you have is ok, there is just a possibility of getting better. At least yours doesn’t have green dye and petroleum in it, like a popular US aloe product.

Hi all,

Can you let me know what you think please?

Thursday Plantation Tea Tree and Aloe Vera Cotton Tips

Thank you!

And…

Aloe vera gel Aubrey Organics

Hi Stopit,

I had a good christmas and new years, hope you did too!

The plant sounds like a good idea, though after thinking about it it may not be so practical for me as I travel quite a lot airport security may have a problem with me carrying plants around  I found the Aubrey organics option, let me know what you think. Hope all is well with you and thanks for your feedback on my pictures, as always it is much appreciated.

Hello LAgirl,

I have answered your Q in my post replying to James, but just to let you know I actually picked up the Aveeno Ultra Calming Cleanser and Positively Radiant cream when I visited a shop near Times Square a couple of weeks ago, so will start using that cleanser instead. Thank you for your advice. I will scale back on my usual products. It has now been 2 weeks since my last electrolysis appointment, but considering the break outs do you think I should stick to a much simpler routine?

Pokka x[/quote]

Hi Pokka,

Yes, I would minimize use of products. I wouldn’t use anything but witch hazel during the day and tea tree oil sparingly at night for the first 2 days after treatment. I would only use the cleanser when you need to remove makeup. And I would only use a moisturizer when your skin feels like it actually needs it.

Hi,

LAgirl, Thanks for your advice. I have minimised the products I use a week prior to treatment to calm my skin and also only used the witch hazel today post treatment. I have tested the tea tree & aloe vera swab under my chin today (product info in a previous post on page 16) and no reaction has taken place, so I will use a little tonight (yay!).

Thanks so much to both you and James for your help on this. I really appreciate it.

I also spoke to my electrologist about my skin yesterday. She spent 30-40 mins discussing what I have used so far and what my skin routine is now, told me off and then asked me to keep it as simple as possible whilst receiving electrolysis treatments. She said that my skin will heal, but trying to aid healing with the use of exfoliating products will only further sensitise what she feels is a hypersensitive skin.

I am now only going to use what is absolutely necessary; calming cleanser, after care (tea tree, aloe vera or witch hazel) and basic moisturiser after 3-4 days.

Post treatment 6 of 1.5 hrs, no redness after 3 hrs. No scabs so far. will take pics and post soon.

Excuse me for butting in here, but I have been reading this thread with great interest. It is so reassuring to hear and see some positive stuff going on. As someone that has had treatments with Jenna, and been less than happy…and has also been searching for a good electrologist in the London area for many years, I’m now feeling more positive about having another stab at getting treatments. I will probably sit on the fence for a little longer and watch the progress, but who knows I might book myself a consult with Parkside very soon. My skin has not fully recovered from my treatments with Jenna almost a year on, and I don’t think it ever will…(she supposedly trained with Dectro the people that make the Apilus), it just goes to show how diligent you have to be when looking for treatments.

Glad things seem to be coming together for you, Stopit, Bec and Pokka!

Keep up with the updates, they are most helpful.

You know, the learning curve on the equipment is different for everyone. It doesn’t matter if one is in school doing it for the first time, or just got a new machine and retraining to use the new technology, one may have a few bumps in the road to skillfully utilizing the equipment. I am the first to admit that I don’t know all the things I could be doing with my Apilus Platinum. Of course, I follow the wisdom of Bruce Lee; “Use what is useful, discard what is not.” (Of course, master Lee did expect that one would learn everything one could before beginning the discarding part.)

It is possible that if you gave this practitioner one more chance, you would find that her skills have progressed since you last saw her. Of course, I would understand if you did not want to give her that chance. After all, my first girlfriend still won’t give me one more chance

I hear what you’re saying James, but I voiced my worries at the time about the condition of my skin after treatments, she basically brushed them off by say " oh, my skin was in a bad way all through my treatments ", I’m sorry but after reading many posts here, there is no way that I should have to put up with treatments like that. Like your comment about your first girlfriend! lol

Also James, Pokka and bec both had far more recent experience with her and experienced the same thing max did.

Reading the posts in this thread about her attitude, opinions and work, I’m surprised she has any business.

Hey, I am the first to admit that I am an optimist. Not only do I have hope springing eternal that this person is getting better (and hope that she gets a personality upgrade as well), but I still hold that we have only had ONE poor review of KW’s work in AZ, and therefore still hold that I don’t know if KW’s work is good or not. I apologize for my PollyAnna side.

hey max,

How long ago did you have your treatments, how many sessions did you have and how long did they last? Im sorry for asking so many questions im just interested after myself having such bad treatment from her.

Give parkside a go, i would if i wasn’t all the way up north! I have found someone up here i am happy with though.

Hope it all works out xx

Hi Bec, I started my treatments with Jenna around mid Feb of last year, and stopped going in May of the same year. I was going to her weekly for 1 hour sessions on my chin, I think I probably missed two. Firstly at the consult, she took photos, explained the procedure, showed me the machine (it gave a print out of how many hiars were removed), all the stuff that you expect. I thought I had really landed on my feet with this one, and I didn’t mind doing the 1hr 30 min journey if I was gonna get results. I have to say that I was a little taken back when she said I would need an hours treatment to start (thought I didn’t need that long), but I thought perhaps she can see what I ccouldn’t. When the hour was up, she proceeded to tell me she had removed just over 100 hairs…which I remember thinking wasn’t many for an hour on the table, but didn’t say anything. I don’t know how much she was charging you, but I was paying £45 for that hour…as she explained that she would have to charge more a she was having to drive from Nottingham to London, and assumed that being in London, her overheads more more. It turned out that her set up was in her parents study, and she made the journey every couple of weeks for a handful of clients.

I’m only sorry that I kept going to her for as long as I did…my face certainly wouldn’t be in the state it is now.

So there you have it Bec, what’s your story with Jenna?

Glad you’re happy with your present person though!

xx

max1970,

Would you be amenable to submitting a picture today? It’s been 9 months since your last treatment. How bad does it look now? One hundred hairs per hour? So you were getting blend only?

Dee, I’d most certainly be happy to post a few pictures. Hopefully my camera will pick up the relevant skin damage, if not I’ll have to wait until we have a bright day.

The damage is still pretty bad, the left underside of my chin has miner pitting, not deep but where a few pits have joined together the skin has sunk lower than the surrounding skin. I also have a few deep pits on the opposite side. Some scars are more noticeable, depending on the light.

I could understand a slower pace of work if I was receiving Blend, but she was performing microflash.

Will get those photos sorted as soon as able.

Interestingly, Benji also used Jennifer Clifton (Jenna) at some stage of his treatment (he seems to have gone through a number of practitioners). :S

Some of the posts make me want to abandon my choice of career and just go into both LHR AND electrolysis! It seems like that’s the only real way to ensure that the hair removal is effective as possible and prevent people from getting ripped off! I’ll shut up now as I’m heading towards a rant!

Hi People, did a dummy run to Parkside today, while there decided to pop in and arrange a consultation with Sharon for next Weds. Thanks Stopit for the heads up! I will let you all know how it goes.

Dee, sorry haven’t got around to posting pictures as I said I would, but I will.

It’s past midnight here and I have work tomorrow, so I’m gonna get some shut eye.

Nite all!

Take your time on the pictures, max.
