Mike's Electrolysis

Ill more when I have time. Im only getting my upper lip done

Before

After two sessions. The electrolysis is working from the outside in.

What should I do in order to prevent pitting and scaring? Im experiencing a little bit of swelling, redness and “pimples”

Pitting and scarring most often result from overly agressive tweezing, or from picking at scabs. Unless the energy is set far too intensely, flash thermolysis will not cause scarring and pitting. For the swelling and redness after treatment, apply ice packs for a few minutes, then remove for a few minutes, and repeat for 30 to 60 minutes. Even without ice, these conditions resolve on their own in just a few hours. For the pimples, the general recommendation here is a dot of tea tree oil (it’s anti-bacterial,) wipe gently with pure witch hazel, then apply pure aloe vera gel afterwards.

I see almost no swelling. In such deep follicles, and skin as sensitive as there is in this area, it is fortunate that there is very little reaction.

If you are “going further” with this transformation that’s just fine. If you are only trying to avoid shaving (at your very tender age), you need to reconsider.

You beard is not fully developed; it is going to fill in. What will you look like in 15 years with a full beard and no upper lip hair? Removing upper lip hair will give you an a-sexual appearance. Or, you can end up looking “Asian” (nothing wrong with that, by the way … except you are not Asian!).

The male appearance requires a shadow on the upper lip. Even when I remove a full beard on a fellow, I leave hair on the upper lip and chin … it’s an important “secondary” male characteristic.

Before doing any “job” a competent therapist should review all the outcomes. We don’t just remove hair! I’m concerned that you might be injuring yourself, and that prefect face. Think about this, please!

Thanks Michael. Ive thought about it long and hard and the truth is just that, I really hate my upper lip hair to the point that it depresses me at times. I Am still sprouting hairs very slowly yet I highly doubt I will ever have a full beard.

Also, I have a slender, small face so a mustache makes me look awful. Im fine with just removing it completely, but Ill still be satisfied if by chance some do grow back, they do so more slowly and not as thick.

Oh and by the way, Im almost 28 so the pictures can be deceiving!

The growth pattern of your beard is really unusual. If not for the maturity in the hairs of your upper and lower lip, I would have thought that you have no more than 17 years.

You’re one of those guys who keep a look of eternal teenager. A beautiful face, really.

I thought you looked familiar.

Are you related to Orlando Bloom?

PS. I second the recommendations by Caith721.

Hi, I too thought you were a teenager and obviously 28 you look not. I’ll just give an anecdotal story that indirectly supports Michael Bono’s concern.
There is a political figure by the name of Josh Mandel who is 35, a lawyer, married with kids and served with the Marines. He is running for Congress but his unusual youthful appearance is becoming a real hindrance. There are political advisers that say he has no chance because voters don’t take him serious. Appearance is important! Youthful looks in adult men lack “image of authority and experience.” You might want to take something like that into consideration when it comes to things like your career. http://jobs.joshmandel.com/
I’d say thin-out the mustache to reduce that shadow but don’t remove it completely.

Please let me second this. I can well understand that You have the desire to get rid of THAT shadow of a mustache.

But in my former life I also made the experience that You are not taken too serious if Your role expression is too Young or too soft. Especially the contrast between high qualification and being “a softie” is irritating people (well in my case probably to a good degree the woman shining through). And that will decrease chances in the job.

So please take the hint of fenix seriously and only thin the mustache to having a weak shadow instead of removing it completely.

Beate

Im only removing the upper lip area. I will still have the hair under my chin and under my lip. I dont need a mustache for people to take me seriously.

As you can see, I dont look like a child.

Electrologists give guidance, opinion and warning about what clients want for a particular area. The libertarian side of me says, give the man ( the very beefy man at that) the look he wants as long as it is documented on video and in writing.

Im experiencing a bit of redness now. Im assuming this is normal and that I wont experience discoloring … Im hoping!

Again, I’m really surprised because there is very little swelling. The depth of these follicles and the high density of hairs in this area … I am absolutely perplexed. Can we know some details? modality, type of needle, etc?

Each of the treated follicles has required a micro-wound of 3 or 4 mm of depth, multiplied by an average of 100 to 150 follicles for each side?. Honestly, if there were not a bit of redness at least , someone might think you have the powers of the Incredible Hulk … because of your muscular look almost, but I do not see the green anywhere  . Just kidding. You have nothing to worry about, in my opinion, someone has been extremely careful with your skin. Congratulations!

Wowza, I’m going to cut out the blonde and make you my new screen saver.

JUST kidding!!!

Thanks but I look bloated on that day. I took this today. I removed some of the redness on my lip with photoshop. Im already seeing Small hair growths from the treated areas, but I take it that its the hairs that were in “remission”. When I shower and dry off I use tend skin then follow up with some “bio-oil” which has vitamin E. Also I have some hydrocortisone to prevent redness, pain and swelling. Any of these things I should stop using?

Uh…What was I going to say?

While I love Tend Skin and I think it’s one of the holy grails of skincare, I wouldn’t use it on a freshly treated area. I’m not familiar with hydrocortisone. Have you tried ice packs for the redness/swelling instead?

PS. Personally I also wouldn’t use any oils for the first week, just tea tree oil and maybe some aloe vera gel. I haven’t tried it but many people swear by witch hazel.

As one who has worn a moustache all my life, I thought I should speak up in defense of the poor little cookie duster in question here who has no voice in this matter.

But on second thought, I think I’ll just shut up and sit down…don’t mind me…

moustaches look great on alot of guys, just not me. Just tea tree oil you say? Ill look into it

Hey Mike, I bet your mustache has served for more than just give seriousness to your face. How many of these hairs have been used to take measurements of the diameter of the probes?

Someone had to say something in defense of your suffering and heroic mustache!
