Looking for Treatment Advice for Hair Loss - What Is Effective for You?

Hello Everyone :hugs:,

I’m contacting this group to ask for personal hair loss treatment recommendations and experiences. Over the past few months, I’ve seen a dramatic thinning of my hair, which has been pretty disturbing. I’m eager to discover workable answers and would appreciate hearing from those who have had such circumstances.

I’ll give you some context on my circumstances: I’m in my early 30s, and I’ve noticed that my hair is starting to thin, mostly on top. I’ve experimented with a few topical treatments and over-the-counter shampoos, but I’m not getting the desired results. I’m thinking of looking into professional therapies like PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) therapy or hair transplant alternatives, as well as prescription drugs.

  • Could any of you share your experiences if you have found success with any particular treatments or products?
  • What was successful and what wasn’t for you?

Any referrals for respectable clinics or experts in this field would also be greatly appreciated.

It would also be very useful if you could share any negative affects you’ve had or advice on what to avoid. In order for me to make an informed choice, I would appreciate both positive and negative gen ai input.

Thank you  in advance.

Finasteride and Minoxidil are the typical treatments for male hair loss. They are well researched and their efficacy is backed by results. Considerable results would require long term use across many months, potentially more than a year, and it is a daily commitment for as long as you care to stunt your hair loss. This is overwhelmingly the most popular approach for a good reason.

Other treatments like PRP, microneedling, red light therapy and rosemary oil are fraught with issues. They can range from expensive to time consuming, and their efficacy either requires more scientific study or there is simply no scientific basis at all.

You can spend the rest of your life building an unhealthy obsession over trying every treatment under the sun. I recommend speaking with a reputable dermatologist, sticking with a tried-and-true treatment, and going about your life as normal - it’s too short to be obsessing over hair loss, and the simplest approach can yield the best results.
