Legitimate electrolysis machines on eBay part 3

And this is the type of global service we have always hoped would be found here at HairTell. Now if we could only get more people to answer the question who is good in their area, we would really be cooking!

For UK based people:

A new Carlton Ultrablend CC 2337 Hair Removal Machine. Starting price: £299.00, or BIN for £500.00.
Auction ends: 03 Aug 2010, 19:53:33 BST.

Another one for the UK:

Used Sterex SX-B Blend Epilator + Equipment. Starting bid £695.00
Auction ends: 04 Aug 2010, 15:17:34 BST.

Note: While the sellers account has been totally dormant since being set up over five years ago, this is cash on collection, so you’re not paying up front. They appear to be selling everything you need except the electrologist.

Aaand again for the UK:

A used Electrolysis Skinmate Elite Blend Machine (Apparently model EQU/350) Starting bid £150.00, or BIN £550.00
Auction ends: 28 Jul 2010, 22:08:21 BST.

For the UK:

Used Sterex SX-B BLEND Epilator , 200 NEEDLES, GELS, ETC. Starting bid £499.00, BIN £700.00 - Collection only.
Auction ends: 06 Aug 2010, 20:52:32 BST.

Note: All accessory images are from other sellers, and the SX-B image is from here, even though the seller appears to own a camera. They have accepted cash on collection on other ebay items, so I’d recommend asking about that option if interested.

For the UK:

Used STEREX SX-B EPILATOR. Starting bid £50.00(with reserve), BIN £450.00
Auction ends: 04 Aug 2010, 17:25:28 BST.

Anyone looking for a footswitch for an Instantron? (the original Elite, the SS-69s and possibly others as well) If so, this is your lucky day. Bid and you may get it for as little as $16 with shipping (they go for twice that or more new.)

The venerable Fischer CBX (which some say still is the cutting edge of electrolysis equipment even though dozens of machines have been introduced since its debut. Unfortunately, this person has a bit of an inflated view of how much to ask for this unit.

For our UK readers, a Sterex set up complete with cart and ligiht.

The Instantron setup is nice, it is virtually the same setup I started with, though the opening bid could be a bit lower.

It is too bad they don’t mention which textbook it is, it might be a first edition of the Bono book. It would make the deal a bit sweeter

A not from the seller:

Hi,

I don’t have a picture, but the book is: Electrolysis, Thermolysis and the Blend - The Principles and Practice of Permanent Hair Removal by Hinkel and Lind.

Thank you,
Gina

James, does this look like the same Instantron Elite auction that you posted on 8/4/10? The link from that post moves you to the “this listing has ended”, but for a quick second there is a flash of what it used to be. They look pretty similar.

(Wow, I hope I posted that link correctly, it appears to be very lengthy on this reply form…)

This auction seems to include quite a bit - can anyone tell me if it is a legitimate machine and has a good price for all that is included? It is hard to compare with the old ebay auction links since they have all ended and there is not much opportunity to see the price and what’s included.

I’d be able to go pick it up and save on shipping prices, so I’m seriously considering bidding on this one if it’s a good deal and a legitimate machine.

Oh crap. I guess I didn’t post the link correctly after all!

Please feel free to fix/change/alter/whatever!!! Really sorry about that

Yes, it is the same machine, and they have gotten the hint to lower the start price. Of course, they might not get any bids until they lower the start price some more. Later, the final price will hit $500 anyway

A Gentronics MNG machine for $900 brand new in box, with the needle rack

So $475 is a bit too high for the Instantron Elite auction? It comes with a book, needles, and a light/magnifier. However, the book isn’t the one I’ve seen mentioned on here, and the magnification of the light/magnifier isn’t specified.

Do these extras justify the $475 at all or does it still seem a bit pricy? I don’t want to overpay and am willing to wait for a better offer.

I said $500 is a decent price on this.
The problem is that on Ebay, people are looking for bargains. If you put a STARTING price that is equal to what something should go for, often times, no one bids, but then again, if you put an opening bid that is on the low side, lots of people bid, and then compete, and frequently, you get a little more than what you expect. It is a human nature thing.

Again, $500 is a good price for this, and with the extras, it is a great price. the auction could go as high as $800

Ohh, I see what you’re saying. Thank you for clarifying!

Quick question, the listing for the Instantron mentions that it can “be used for RF and galvanic modes”. What is RF mode? Can this machine also do blend and thermolysis? I just assumed it did based on the title of the book that’s included.

RF is thermolysis. It can do all three, I have one.

What’s the deal is with this machine? I found mention of it earlier in this same thread, when it used to be priced at $500 dollars. James mentioned it needed a probe holder and that it was an “antique”.

Would someone here be so kind as to list what additional items I would need to purchase in order to make this machine whole and in working order? If I need a probe holder, does it need to be a certain one? I have virtually no knowledge of this stuff, which is why the people here rock!

I’ve only been treated with an Apilus (not sure which one), so compared to that, what kind of pain level might I expect with an old machine like this? Oh, and can it do galvanic, blend, and thermolysis, or does it only do one of the above?

Thanks! Everyone’s been so helpful whenever I’ve had a question here, I truly appreciate the willingness to help!
