Apilus Jr. Plus starting at $600

There is an interesting line at the beginning of the auction about lack of electrolysis schools where she lives in Arizona; for veteran hairtell members there is an inside joke there

The Silhouet Tone VMC! Ladies and Gentlemen, here is a Top 5 electrolysis machine being offered at a fraction of the price for buying new.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220515942476

I also have one of these for sale as well. Anyone want to buy the one that I have, may contact me to make arrangements.

A fair value for this epilator is $2,500. Anything under $2,000 is a steal.

What the heck is up with all those wires on the left side? What a mumbo-jumbo. Those wires don’t belong with this epilator except for maybe the red and black wires. Is the manual included? Indiffernet electrode, foot switch, cataphoresis, anaphoresis tools?

The company selling this admits that it is a leasing company, and I imagine they are selling this after repossessing it. They would have been happy just to get the main unit back.

Here’s an odd one. It looks like an old thermolysis only machine. Could this thing have really been worth $4,000 AUD 18 years ago?

Here’s a fun one of sorts. Some reusable Kree needles, and some electrolysis pamphlets/price lists from the 70s
http://cgi.ebay.com/VINTAGE-LOT-KREE-ELECTROLYSIS-NEEDLES-PRICE-LISTS_W0QQitemZ160393598951

I find it hard to believe that any electrolysis machine was sold for $4,000 18 years ago. The Silhouet-Tone VMC and Apilus SX-500 were considered ridiculously expensive when they were introduced at $5,000 in the 1990’s, and they were double the price of their competition. The Apilus Platinum, continued that pocket busting tradition when it hit the streets at $10,000 not so long ago.

This unit is so easily out done by contemporary models, that it is HIGHLY UNLIKELY that anyone embarrassed themselves by trying to even put a list price of $4,000 on this scientific project box. Any $2,500 to $3,000 Clarablend, Dectro/Apilus, Fischer, Gentronics, Hinkle, Instatron or Proteus would have had more features than this. For some perspective, the Dectro/Apilus entry this would have been up against at the time would have been the SM-500, selling for about $3,500. This unit is thermolysis only, for that money, the competition gave you a machine that did all three modalities.

I can hear Vicky doing a Lloyd Bentsen impression saying, “I knew John Kennedy, and Senator, you are no John Kennedy!” (Ok, what Vicky would say is, “I have used an SM-500, and you, COSMO EPILOT 80 S, are no SM-500!”)

To be fair, it is possible that after paying all the crazy import extortions, and add ons, including shipping, the final price may actually have run to about $4,000, but no one bought this cash and carry from the manufacturer for that much, in my humble opinion.

LOL James, you never fail to make me laugh  Actually, when I first saw the name of the device, an image of Cosmo Kramer from Seinfeld performing electrolysis in his white butcher’s coat came to mind.

Come to think of it, Uni-Probe sells a similar unit brand new for 1/3 less than the starting price of this machine.

hello everybody,

there is an offer of clareblend elegance at ebay right now. for 1800 starting bid. would you recommend it for a do-it-youselver? is the price ok? i would be glad to get an answer and some help;-) thank you very much.

PS: I apologize for my English

That is a good price for the Elegance. Sine it can do galvanic, blend and thermolysis, it would be a good one for a beginner, as long as the person learned how to use it, and followed our advice to do all the reading (Bono’s book, and/or Meharg-Richard’s book) and started out using galvanic, until one was ready to step up to blend, and only considered thermolysis after getting good at blend, if ever.

Hello James W. Walker,

thank you very much for your help.

Right now I found an Aavexx 600 Transcutaneous Galvanic Electrolysis Machine on ebay which is much more expensive. for 578 dollars. it that machine recommendable??

I wuld be very happy to get another advice from you. Thank xou so much!!!

Best wishes!

Aaavexx is a rip off child’s electric box.

you could make one for $50.

Stick with the names we have mentioned in this thread. That’s why this thread exists.

Instead of a ripoff Aaverex for almost $600, buy a machine like the Clareblend below for a starting bid of only $75, which is a legitimate electrolysis machine and does all three modalities. The only thing it doesn’t come with is a ground and a red cord to attach it to the machine (about $35 with shipping from TES), and needles (also available from TES.)

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270528463564

One interesting thing about this machine is that it has a meter for the RF as well as the DC (is the RF meter measuring some sort of actual units, or is it arbitaray from 0 to 90?)

I found a “servo blend” one on ebay… current bid $100. I can’t find much information on it online or on here, but at the same time, the information that i can find doesn’t seem to imply that it’s bad.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230437241639

Any input? If it’s any good, what would be a good price for it? I’m a poor college student who can’t afford $600+ for a machine… I decided that my limit is around $400 but preferably less. Eating is a good thing :frowning:

edit: Just as a curiousity, do the follicles disappear after successful treatment? My formerly messed up hormones blessed me with coarse hair on my breasts which, even after they’re tweezed away, leave big ugly follicles that scream ‘haha look at me :D’. If those would go away I would feel very, very happy. They really are rather large - quite a bit larger than the ones on my arms or legs. It’s gross.

The Servo Blend is a Silhouet-Tone machine. The current version of this is called The VMC, and we talk about those a lot.

This is a good unit, and you would be lucky to buy it for a price in your range.

It is a great deal for $100, the needles the machine comes with are worth $100 alone (assuming the packs are full of 50 needles each.)

Electrolysis doesn’t get rid of the follicles themselves. I have had hair on the sides of my upper lip and cheeks to the point of almost being completely gone, but some big noticeable follicles there remain; the follicles remind me of the indentations/holes where cat whiskers grow out of their face.

Your follicles may narrow with time (pros?), but I fear my big noticeable follicles are permanent. It is still a very small price to pay for the hair to be gone.

Some people just have large pores and follicles.

I am sure that everyone knows someone who has large pores on their nose that fill up with sebum and look like they have black or grey spots on their nose. If you squeeze, or run something across the nose, packed sebum and dried oils extrude from the skin.

It is just nature. Now that the follicles are empty, you notice more of the space that follicle took up. It seemed small when it was filled with a big ole hair.

It’s BAAAAAACK!, Ebay Item #250577557017 is the same machine, they have lowered the opening bid to $580 Australian Dollars, and the buy it now to $650.

Now if they can get real, and open the bidding at a more realistic $100, they may get somewhere. Of course, at this rate, next week, it will be reoffered at a buy it now price of $580 and an opening bid of $460

Is anyone in Australia interested in a thermolysis only machine for that price, when a machine that does all three can be had from the states in that price range?

That servo blend machine is up to $500 and I’m considering making a bid. Is it still a good deal in this price range? I can’t find any thermolysis machines for less right now (maybe I’m not looking correctly).

Any tips or other recommendations? My budget is the same as the other girl’s budget (preferably under $400), but I am willing to be flexible if there is a very good chance that I will be able to sell it for most of my money back.

Like, I can afford $500-$600 if next year I can sell for at least $300. But any less than that and I can’t really justify the cost if that makes sense… I know there are no guarantees, but some of you are probably familiar with the market enough to know if pro machines tend to lose value very quickly or not.

Unfortunately, that Servo is the only real machine on Ebay at the moment. I believe we have a Spare VMC around here somewhere, but that is probably out of your price range.
