A wealth of Apilus on Ebay this week.
Hmmn. Might this plethora of Apilus epilators for sale be due to electrologists upgrading and updating to the Platinum or Pure?
One can only hope that is the reason, and not just another wave of retirements.
I would be very careful of the one Apilus senior II on ebay. One of the pictures shows a machine with the IMMPAC upgrade sticker on it the other two pictures have no IMMPAC sticker.
Which machine is for sale??? One has cords and the other two do not.
Buyers be careful
An Instantron Blendtone for $350, with a carrying case. It is a Blendtone, despite the seller putting “Beltone” in the title description.

Might be a bit high, given its age and the fact that I just found a working Instantron Elite that sold on eBay for 3 dollars and 58 cents! :o
Fun fact: The Blendtone is the same model machine Fino Gior demonstrated on Regis Philbin’s show many years ago.
A nice Clareblend Autoblend for $400

I think the pics were mismatched. But I can speak to the auction being legit, as I bought it… I got a Senior II without anything else, just as promised in the auction, and bought the cords from Jean-Louis & company in Santa Ana, plus got a free check-up, and he said it was in great shape. No IMMPAC option, didn’t see the need at my skill level.
As a public service I am pointing out once again that the machines listed this week under ebay listing number 140293341570 and # 140293341570 are overpriced galvanic only machines that don’t even include a probe. They are Q-Tip machines that direct you to slather electrode gel on the skin and pray you get hair removal.
If a real probe were added to the machines at a cost of about $20 to $50, the thing would work, but for galvanic electrolysis only. For what they are charging for these units, one could get anything from the reputable companies we alway name, and the machine would be much more versitile.
Stay away from these machines, or you will be sorry.
I also found them a few days ago and was going to mention them here but forgot.
I don’t know what is more laughable, the idea that such an obviously chintzy, cheap looking machine could be worth $1200 in any condition, much less that someone actually paid $5000 for it new? If one is going to try and trick people into thinking it is a real professional machine, at least make it look more impressive than the control panel on an old fashioned metal detector.
Don’t give them ideas! :o
Actually, I know people who DID give them $5,000 for one of those machines.
Over 20 years ago, I nearly bought one as well. Fortunately, I did enough research to find out that I could get 3 times the machine at less than half the price.
When I was really young and dumb, I gave a “practitioner” using one of these machines over $1200 for her bogus hair removal so-called-treatments. She was making a killing until a few people who DID do the research later got together and sued her for fraud and refunds of their treatment dollars.
She ended up closing the business and fleeing the state.
Hey, here’s a nice machine An Apilus SM-500, some needles, manuals, a few Actuelle magazines and all of the attachments.

It does not come with the Apilus printer, another $500 (new) from Dectro. I don’t have one either, I wish I could find a used one.
Wait a minute… the machine came with two manuals? I only have the white manual on the left (the operating manual.) Anyone have a PDF of the client management manual? The friendly folks at Dectro sent me the white manual but I didn’t get the pink one.
Ladies and gentleman, after years of anticipation, may I present the eBay debut of the Apilus Platinum, featuring not just one, but two machines!

Twenty-five years ago, The World Wrestling Federation’s Vincent K. McMahon repeatedly told me on TV that I had better buy the pay-per-view of The Wrestling Classic, because otherwise, I was going to be Old and Grey before I would see any of it broadcast on free TV. Twenty-Five Wrestlemanias later, we buy the DVD 4 weeks after the fact.
I have the same feeling now, (sniff) seeing the first trickles of Platinums dropping into the resale market. I have lived to see the day… Oh, no, are those grey hairs? :o Dee, I need you to zap me!
Here is something for the Do Each Other At Home Electrolysis person looking for a bargain. It is an old, but reliable Fischer SE-2 and performs blend, thermolysis and galvaic.

A nice Clarablend, just like the one Mike Bono Used.

I used to have one of these.

Next up, we have, The Apilus Junior. Make them an offer! Looks like someone bought the machine brand new, did not use it more than a few hours, and is trying to get as close to full price for it.

ONCE AGAIN, WE ARE WARNING YOU ALL TO STAY AWAY FROM PRODUCTS LIKE THIS ONE BELOW!

THIS IS A GALVANIC ONLY DEVICE THAT WHEN USED AS DIRECTED YIELDS ZERO PERMANENT HAIR REMOVAL! If modified, it would be able to do slow galvanic permanent hair removal, but for the money one would be spending either at retail, or even the ebay price offered here, one could get a fully functioning system that does galvanic, thermolysis, and the blend… with presets even!
Gentronics blend, flash thermolysis and multi-needle galvanic epilator

My opinion is the price is too high for this. $700 - $800 would be more like it.
Yesterday I found a HINKEL DUAL BLEND for the asking price of $1,800. It is listed as in “excellent condition.” I spoke with the seller today and she will go down to $1,000. She was wonderful and I am thoroughly convinced that it is legitimate.
What do you all think of this machine? Most of the conversation on this site is about Apilus electrolysis machines. I am want to buy this machine to do at-home electro on my legs and arms.
I only wanted to spend $500, but I could go higher…
Also, I want to buy a machine in the next three weeks because I am accompanying my husband on a three-month business trip and I want to teach myself the trade there…
Thanks so much guys for all your help and consideration!
That is an ok price for that machine, if you know that it is in great working order. Keep in mind that even if it needs some fixing, it would normally cost you about $80 to $150 to fix.
It is a good one for home use. Just remember to get Mike Bono’s The Blend book and read it cover to cover before starting to work on yourself. Begin your work in galvanic only, and when you get good, move up to the Blend. Later, you can try thermolysis if you dare.
If you want work done anyplace other than your legs, you should get a partner to read the book, and learn, the same way you did, and trade work on each other.
thanks for the information regarding the clareblend James.
I have a few other questions if you have a minute. A guy is offering an Apilus Junior for $800 on craigslist. Does that sound legitimate?
Also, I called Texas electrolygy today and talked the owner about some options. He suggested a $400 Polish unit called “uni touch” or “one touch.” He said this was a good place to start. I was ready to give him my card number when I decided to bring the question to all you wonderful forum members: Should I buy this machine?
(Whatever machine I buy, I want to bring it with me to Europe this summer, so it has to be light weight too.)
An Apilus Junior for $800?
You better have a police escort take you over there so you can beat the other electrolysis professionals and DIY’rs to his place!
The truth is, many people have these because they were purchased by someone else, and not used, or left in a closet, or was a part of grandma’s business, and the kids are trying to make a little change by selling the contents of that box in the basement.
If I had the choice you have, I would get a few speeding tickets on my way to the guy with the Apilus Junior and then, only if that one is gone would I buy the one from Texas Electrolysis.
I’d buy the Apilus Junior (is it a Jr. or Jr. Plus? A Jr. Plus is newer and has a few extra features.)
If you had the time to wait, and were really really patient and learned how to tweak eBay’s search you might be able to land an Apilus unit for $500-1000. I bought mine for $495, but it took quite a bit of luck, months for it to come up, and it took some haggling with the seller.
I have an Instantron Elite I bought for a backup and have been considering selling. It does galvanic, thermolysis and blend. You can occasionally find basic blend units like this on eBay for under $500, though if you can swing the $800 for the Apilus Jr. I would definitely buy that (especially if it was a Jr. Plus.)
Remember to bring a power converter with you to Europe, even though most Apilus units have PC style power connectors, I think only the Apilus Platinum has a universal power supply (similar to modern PC power supplies.)
