Laser on chest, back and shoulders - Help Plz!

Well I’m not sure why I bother posting an update here! I thought id make a thread and for both the benefit of both the forum and myself so I can track progress but it seems no one has anything positive to say about the results and it then switches to a laser vs electrolysis slagging match.

electrolysis is not something that is widely available in London and to be honest I’m would not be willing to commit the time effort and money to have a 80-100% clearance. I appreciate that it is a more permanent method of hear removal over laser but for me and my “goal” its not something I want to delve into.

I think a lot of the issues with laser non responders is due to one or more of the following:

The settings on the machine are not high enough.

They have tanned to dark skin

Their hair colour is not dark or thick enough to absorb as much heat from the laser

Poor practitioner operating the laser.

I visited 2 “skin clinics” in Harley street thinking I would get the best treatment. I found these places were just interested in trying to extract as much money as possible from you. When I asked them about power of the settings they will use they were always low and said they may up them after a few treatments to ensure my skin reacts ok.

I actually found a place who use a cynosure and the initial consultation I had was very very different from the ones I had in Harley Street. There was no pushy selling and they did the patch tests for me there and then. The practitioner tried the highest settings on me and it did indeed hurt.

My first treatment I was in real agony on the highest setting but got through it. The fact I have pale skin and thick dark black hair and was treated on the highest settings is the reason for my rapid results. Like I said the image able is 14 weeks after my 3rd treatment.

I have had my 4th and hopefully final treatment now and dispute being on highest settings the pain was minimal which is due to the fact I have 90%+ less hair. Furthermore I’m in and out in 20 minutes and very happy with the cost per visit.

Time will tell how successful my treatment is. In 6 - 18 months I would expect any remaining hair to be on show and I’m very confident that this will be at least 70% less than from day 1! I have seen many pictures and success stories on this forum of people in my position after many years later reporting back to show very minimal regrowth.

To reiterate I don’t want or need a hair free chest just a much larger reduction from what I had in day 1. electrolysis is not for me

Well said, mate. I made a very similar post a while back. It’s sad really, because this is the only decent forum I’ve found for hair removal, but it seems to have developed a very anti-laser stance. (I do appreciate the efforts from some members to maintain a neutral debate though - you guys are a bigger asset to the forum than you probably realise.)

I appreciate that [electrolysis] is a more permanent method of hear removal over laser

To be honest, I wouldn’t even go that far. I know the electrologists love to quote the FDA approval thing, but from my own experience, I’ve had permanent hair removal from laser. I don’t know how electrolysis can be more permanent than that!

Any regrowth I have had thus far, now 11 years after treatment, has been very recent. It’s quite clearly new follicles being created as my hormones change, and neither laser nor electrolysis can do anything about that. The follicles killed by laser have stayed dead.

So there you go. I’ve had laser, and I don’t regret a thing.

This is where you’re wrong. Electrolysis can kill follicles having a hair unseen to the human naked eye, and therefore for any type of laser today.

Electrologists call it “prevention strategy” and it is to remove all follicles in a given area likely to generate changes, even if they have an invisible hair.

Thank you so much for your story. It’s hard to find a real expierence without promos. My husband has a similar problem, and we are considering various options now. Is there any news on your case?

This was an interesting read. Do you have an update of how it looks now if you haven’t had a treatment for 6+ months?
