Laser buttcheek hair??

Hey all - (Warning, this may be a TMI thread for some.)

I was diagnosed with PCOS some years ago, and thus have a big hair problem. I’ve had some electrolysis on my face, but that’s about it. The hair on my face and buttcheeks bother me the most. My hormones surprisingly tested normal - My doc just says I’m very sensitive to androgens.

But I’m finally ready to experiment with laser to see if it will do anything. I wanted to ask the experts here if you think laser will work on my buttcheeks. See photos. I’m a Fitzpatrick 2 or 3 and the hair isn’t black, but brown to light brown. So I’m just hoping there’s still enough contrast?

Definitely not expecting laser to remove all of it - but I would be incredibly happy with ANY reduction. I’m just concerned the hair isn’t dark enough though. Thoughts?

If it’s not dark enough, does anyone know how Meladine works on this area?

Thanks

Doesn’t look dark or coarse enough to me. I also think, if you are unlucky, you risk stimulation in this area and can potentially end up with more hair.

Five to seven hours of electrolysis will get you cleared. The rest of the hair that will cycle in over the next 12 months can be treated as it appears, leaving you with a hair free buttita for life.

This is a job for a modern Electrologist that can move speedily, but carefully along, permanently disabling every follicle that grows a hair. Even the hairs in the butt crack can be treated, if you want to add that as well.

You can try laser, but not every hair will be affected and then you are back to electrolysis. Just go for the true killing machine as your first option and be done with this, but find someone who can remove more than three hairs per minute.

Laser will leave patches, isnt ideal on red/light brown hair and wont get into areas like the crack. good electrolysist can clear that in no time.

Your hair is not very course and is somewhat light. There also isn’t that much of it - looks like more because it’s fully grown. Electrolysis would probably be best in your case.

Ugh… I was worried this might be the answer. I just feel like it is so much hair in such a large area that it would take years to remove via electrolysis?? Are you saying it could all be gone for good within 12 months? I would definitely want the crack done too.

Holy smokes, you think? (You did see the second pic right? I run my hands over my own butt and it feels like a guy’s to me. Hell I’ve been hairier than some guys I’ve dated. Story of my life but I digress…)

I had Lucy Peter’s electrolysis done on my face about 5 years ago. I only did about 16 hours before I had to stop due to money, as well as pain. It was awfully painful to me… I might be a wimp. I never saw anything permanently disabled after that, though I know I didn’t go long enough. It also left me with terrible breakouts and some pitting afterward.

Electrolysis just scares me now, but I guess it’s my only option.

P.S. Thank you all for your responses.

Depending on your location, I’m sure someone can recommend an electrologist to you.

The face for me has generally been one of the more painful areas. I’m starting to move into other body areas where I can feel it being less sensitive. I’d imagine your butt cheeks would be significantly less painful than it was for the face

Not all electrologists are the same.

Electrolysis is all you have.

It won’t take forever.

Doing a modality like laser for your case will take forever.

Your face is not the same as your butt and yes, 16 hours is not enough time to make a judgement on what electrolysis will do for you.

Dedicating yourself to an electrolysis plan is like deciding to get married. You don’t know if you want to marry someone 16 hours after you meet them.

By 12 months, you will know that your butt butt will be hair free soon, but it may not be quite over by then?

Dedicate yourself to this. Don’t back away. Search for someone you are comfortable with by getting short treatments. Take note of their speed factor. Some of us can move like hummingbirds and some of us move like catapillars. Large areas require the efficiency and skill of a passionate, modern electrologist who is on a mission to aggressively disable hair follicles like a masterful bounty hunter.

Side bar: Don’t worry about scabbing, itchiness or redness after treatment on a body area. It’s going to happen, so deal with it.

Lastly , you have got to REALLY want this. It is not the easiest thing you will do in your life, but it rates up there with the most satisfying accomplishment.

Well said! And very important for clients to be aware that there will be a little pain and ‘downtime’ but for huge gains and if the work performed is good, the skin will actually look better once all healed up.

Having just had this area treated exactly a week ago, I can vouch for the current itchiness. And my arms? Scab city but they are only pin prick and this time, leaving behind hardly any PIH when they fall off, woohoo!

The face is actually the least painful area to have treated and most clients can do it without any kind of anaesthesia. On the body it varies and you will need to investigate what works for you on this area.

While all of Dee’s post is spot on, THIS is the key to what you need to know. IT can be beaten with electrolysis. Folks like Dee, Michael, James, Josepha could clear this area ( first clearance) inside of a few days. A slow electrolysist may take months and months to achieve the same goal. Tke your time and find someone efficient, and fast.

People want that first clearance fast. They want the area kept clear until there is no hair to treat anymore, which is usually in 9-18 months. We should all learn to do this to best of our ability. Some areas slow us down because of the difficulty of the insertion and perhaps the ingrown situation takes our time when we have to stop and carefully lift out the hair.

It takes time for most new electrologists to gain confidence and comfort with treating hair, so be not too hard on yourself as you strive to get into a zen mode. It will come to you. The harder you work, the luckier you get. Never be afraid to slow it down, but once you “get it” you will become a free flowing wild mustang.

The buttbutt is flat terrain and one should be able to do their mustanging on this flat area. The crack will be a slower process for obvious reasons.

I’m no where near mustang yet. Every time I think I have the chin near done …well, I get to start over. I’m having to learn to bite off smaller areas. It would also be a LOT easier working on someone other than myself. No one said this would be easy.

Electrolysis won’t take that much time if you do it right from the start, i.e. long treatments up front to clear the area, then you can come in once a month or so to clear any new hairs. This way, you can be done in 12-18 months with not that much time spent on treatments.

I could definitely handle 1 x month treatments. When I did Lucy Peter’s electrolysis on my face years ago… it was about a 2 hour session that I did every other week for three months, each session clearing the whole area. (I have about 200-300 coarse hairs on my face in beard/chin pattern.) I know I didn’t go long enough, but I just would have thought I’d see some reduction at that point. I have the hairs on my face memorized and I just didn’t see anything. That combined with the pain, intense breakouts, and cost made me stop doing it at the time.

Thanks to everyone who replied.

I guess my next question is how do you find a real pro at this? I don’t want to waste time and money on someone that isn’t skilled enough to knock it out. I don’t know any referrals personally, and I don’t always trust online reviews.

I live in the Washington DC area, but would consider Baltimore and Philadelphia for the right person. Anyone know anyone?

I would think a good place to start, would be the referrals section of this site.

I’m afraid I’m not in DC, and dont know of anyone there.

I made the mistake of having LHR with Soprano XL for bikini line (2 sessions).

Now the I have a terrible case of ingrowns that lasts many days, (I imagine it´s because the hair takes several weeks to grow now).

That also causes me to feel a burning sensation and the area is completely sensitive, even a loose band of underwear causes me pain and leaves a mark that lasts very long to fade.

And finally, I have hairless patches which make the area look weird.

Worst of all, I have noticeable hyper-pigmentation in the area. It looks awful and it hurts.

MY ADVICE: Stick to shaving or waxing. Or consider electrolysis (much safer and accurate than Laser will EVER be).

I hope this helps.

stoppit&tidyup,

This may be off topic, but out of curiosity, if the hair is brown and finer than the ones seen in the pictures, does that mean that the person should not do LHR ?
