Hair on lower arms coarse enough for laser?

We understand depilacionelectr that you do electrolysis for a living and laser of course threatens your business so of course you’d be biased to electrolysis and dislike laser. You just have to realize that this section of the forum is for laser hair removal, not just hair removal in general. Meaning people are here because they want to do laser. Sure some may never have heard of electrolysis before, but I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that for a lot of people, they do laser because it’s easy, especially for guys. Meaning, a lot of guys don’t like hair on their chest or what not. Do they dislike it so much they’ll go do electrolysis to remove it? Most likely not, but go for a 20 minute appointment for laser and it’s gone? Then why not? Even my girlfriends I always tell it’s $60 go do your underarms never shave again! Almost all of them keep telling me naw I don’t mind shaving not really worth it for me.

So my point is that people on this forum pretty much are here because they are looking for laser. Yes some of them are misinformed and haven’t started research, so they don’t know that laser can’t treat light or blonde hairs, and that’s where we give them the information they need, and where your assistance can greatly help. But for people with dark coarse hair, where laser can wipe it out quickly, and cheaply, it’s not fair to basically lie to them saying electrolysis is faster.

Take myself for example, 3 sessions on my forearms with laser. I have NO hair on my hands anymore, and I’d say a 50-60% reduction in hair on my arms, with the hair that remains being shorter, finer, and from 3 feet away from me almost impossible to notice where as before I had lots of hair there you’d clearly see. 3 sessions at $100 each = $300 so far, with a total of maybe 20-30 minutes per session so lets say 1.5 hours. So $300 and 1.5 hours to get a HUGE reduction on my forearms, enough to make me super happy. I counted the hairs in one square inch the other day (after my 3 laser sessions keep in mind, so lots has been removed) and there were about 30 hairs. I figure there’s around at minimum 75 square inches on each arm that’s been treated with laser, so 2250 hairs on EACH arm or 4500 hairs on both arms. Let’s say the electrologist is amazing, can do 900 hairs per hour. 4500/900 = 5 hours. Most places are $60 per hour which is $300, same price I paid for 3 laser sessions and this is only for 1 electrolysis session. Now, maybe I’m missing something here and maybe the result after that 1 session would be better than 1 laser session, but 5 hours for one session? I don’t hate my arm hair THAT much to sit through that. I just fail to see how you can say electrolysis is faster than laser, which is really misleading to people who’ve never tried either…
