Hair on lower arms coarse enough for laser?

Dear all,

thanks for a great forum! It’s become my one-stop shop for reading all about hair removal (have recently started electrolysis on my chin / upper lip).

I’m considering starting laser treatments on my lower arms. My skin is very pale (I’d say a I or II).From what I can judge, the hair is on the darker side and also quite dense. My only worry is the hair’s not super coarse. I’ve attached two pics so you get an idea.

Does anyone have an opinion on whether or not laser is a good option in my case?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Edit: Ok, so the photo upload didn’t work…My bad. Here’s a link instead:

You need to use photobucket or another sharing site, the photo upload feature of the boards here doesn’t work for some reason

Based on my observations of cases in which the laser fails, in your arms the opportunity to succeed with any type of laser are nil.

Thanks for your opinion, Depilacionelectr.

Based on what I’ve read on this forum, I’m critical myself, but I thought I might feel more at ease making a decision after having sampled some educated opinions.

I don’t think the hair is coarse enough for laser. You need electrolysis for it.

I would recommend start out with a laser treatment and see how it goes if it works then stick with it, if not then try electrolysis. That’s what I’m doing for my lower & upper arms.
I had a few electrolysis sessions on my lower arms but the hair grew back :frowning: so now I’m doing laser to thin it out and have it grow back finer and then I’ll finish up with electrolysis

If you want to waste time and money, follows the recommendation of Thankgod.
The problem with Electrolysis of Thankgod may be due to an improper application of technique or a deficiency in the evaluation of results.

Why it would be effective in all people?
What happens in the arms of Thankgod not occurring in the rest of people?
Few days after an hour of Electrolysis:

Another woman 1/14/97

1/14/97. 200 hairs treated in each bald.

5/25/97. 47 and 49 hairs after 4 months

5/25/97. Immediately after treatment of 47 and 49 hairs.

Thanks for your advice everyone!

I guess I’ll really get to know my electrologist… Lower arms seem like a big undertaking considering the time we use on the small areas in my face, and speed-wise I have the feeling she’s okay. I guess it’s just a matter of wanting it enough ;).

The Electrolysis is infallible in all its forms. If the consumer follows the instructions of the professional and does not check results, it is because the technique has not been correctly applied.

@Depilacionelectr:

I did not post my question to flag any doubts about the effectiveness of electrolysis, but rather to ask for help in making an informed decision about the prospects of laser treatments for my arms.

If your post is a response to ThankGod, that’s okay I guess, but please rest assured I have researched electrolysis and am currently undergoing treatments (face) with good results. As far as I’m concerned, therefore, you’re preaching to the converted ;).

I am aware of the reasons why pictures of your arm.

My last message is for the skeptics. I’m glad that you are not one of them.
You received 3 responses.
The first opinion (I am Josefa) is of an electrologist that is not impartial, only honest, which is based on the experience of other consumers.

The second opinion (LAgirl) is from a consumer is well documented and completely impartial, based on their own experience.

The third opinion (Thankgod) is a consumer who has been unlucky in finding sufficiently qualified professional in Electrolysis.

Dear PekingDuck, the Electrolysis is not a matter of faith, but it is easier to convince an agnostic to embrace the Christian faith, that “to convert” at a skeptic that the Electrolysis work.

You need electrolysis. You are right, if you want the hair removed permanently bad enough, then you will get what you want.

ThankGod, how do you know that hair grew back? What you were experiencing was normal hair growth cycles with [size:17pt]NEW[/size] hair coming to the surface as it should. If an area is cleared and then maintained over a period of 9-12 months, there will be no hair whatsoever in that particular area within a years time… because eventually, you run out of follicles that are producing hair. Law of averages or something close to that. This is why we repeat concepts here almost on a daily basis. If you understand what is happening, you are more likely to stay on a schedule and keep the faith. Don’t let normal hair growth cycles spook and derail you from a great process that will give you permanent hair removal. We all know that electrolysis works superbly. Now if we can convince practitioners to set themselves up for the speed part so the consumers can see changes faster and keep the faith, then ooooooo la la wee wee!

Dee, I hope your wishes are fulfilled and I am still alive to check it.

These are the times of globalization, I can imagine a world where every electrologist work in harmony to achieve a fast, effective and safe Electrolysis.
A world without those professionals who throw garbage at this technique with malpractice.

We will attend this event?
Most unusual events have occurred.
Women governing countries.
A black man in the White House.
A free healthcare system in the USA.
One thing leads to another.

Perhaps our wishes will soon be a reality.

My dear Josefa,

I have a slightly different take on this, but I understand your good intentions. - There will be no such thing as a free healthcare system in the USA. We are all running towards a cliff thinking we are going to have “utopia”. The cliff event won’t be pretty, trust me. Also, skin color, gender, religion, age and sexual orientation matter nothing to me, so these are not unusual events. I’ve never looked at my fellow human beings with such division and could never bring myself to do so. Historical figures are not gods.

I still hope that electrologists, globally, can come to know the benefits of modern tools so they can move faster to please the hairy.

Love,

Dee

Either that or they can keep working on improving laser, so that it eventually can treat all skin types and colours and be 100% effective on dark hair to fine gray and red hair too! Laser hasn’t been out for long at all and look at the advancements. It’s the fastest growing cosmetic procedure currently so I can only imagine the developments that will come. I know that’s not what electrologists want to hear but it’s the truth of course

Alrightee I’ll start out by saying that my arms had a lot of dark and dense hair. I had several electrologist treatments done on my lower arms and although some of the hair was removed, the hair (whether new or old is besides the point) always grew back in fast and it looked as if nothing was ever done. I am a female and still had hairy arms and I hated it. So I decided to have a laser treatment done so that ALL of the hairs will disappear and I can have the hair free arms that I wanted. This is my personal opinion of what has worked for me. In my original post I was simply stating my personal and first hand knowledge of what has worked for me and what I am happy with. It was not mean to insinuate that electrolysis does not work. I know that electrolysis does work I am having other areas treated with electrolysis and I have a great technician in Beverly Hills. However I wanted ALL of the hair removed immediately and I got that result with laser
To each their own, I did not want to wait a whole year with electrolysis to have hair free arms.

I have a great electrologist technician in Beverly Hills and I know that electrolysis works, BUT I did not want to wait 1 year to have arms that are hair free. Sometimes it’s not about the time or money $$ it’s about what will make the person happy, and I am happy with my decision to get laser on my arms & now they are hair free
I am a female and it’s about to be summer time and I don’t want to walk around with patches of hair on my arm
