Electrolysis for 2 years

Hello I am new to this forum, but not new to electrolysis. I completed 2 years of electrolysis so far and I can’t tell if there is much progress, anyways I am not happy for 2 years and the amount of money I put in. I still have many coarse hairs on chin and neck and ingrown hairs that I have never had before. I had a total of 25-30 laser hair removals and IPL treatments about 4 years ago. I learned that I got tricked after I had so many treatments and some of my hairs are dark but some are blonde at the root but dark at the skin surface. I know electrolysis works, I just need help finding someone that can clear me out in the next year. I forgot to mention with my 2 years of my electrolysis I HAVE and still go every week for a bout 30 minutes. Please help me.

and also most of the time I felt plucking and tell her and then it still happens, but there were also hairs that didnt have the plucking sensation.

If you’re going weekly for 2 years and see no improvement, your electrologist is not doing a good job. If you would like a recommendation, it will help to know your location

my location is virginia metropolitan area

Here’s someone that may be close to you (I’m not very familiar with Virginia geography):

I’ve looked her up before I might try her , but how do I know if others had success with her, I usually don’t like it when a place does both laser and electrolysis. From my experience they rather have the laser patients, and the electrolysis is not focused upon so much, which is why my work is not that good.

Anxious007 I can understand that this has been your experience and have seen practitioners loose interest in electrolysis when they focus on laser clients, I would suggest booking a consultation to determine if that is the case. Some of us dual practitioners are still are very serious about electrolysis.

Thanks for the suggestion electrolysislady, I guess my mistake in the beginning was desperation and just sticking to the first electrologist I met and I trusted her, but I am not going to keep wasting time and money. Because i should have been more than hairfree by now I believe. So my homework now is to go try out different ones, and see which technique is the best. Should I just pay attention to plucking sensations ?

I received her name off a list of practitioners of people who have used her to successfully transition. I’ve used people off the California list and they all have been fantastic.

ok excellent, thank you Brenton.

Ok so I scheduled a 30 minute consultation for this thursday. I wanted to also let you know that i have more ingrowns in my neck are and lower chin area and I believe that is because my electrologist was tweezing. If the electrologist is skilled will she know how to remove these ingrowns in order to zap them? Also, do you think it will be okay to bleach my hairs?

Oh yes she will know how to remove them. It hurts a bit more to remove ingrowns just because of distorted angles and my electrologist squeezes my skin to get them out, but electrologists work with ingrowns all the time. I had plenty of them and now my skin looks so much better. There’s a good chance removing the ingrowns will lead to bleeding so don’t be alarmed.

You can bleach the hair if you want but with less contrast against the skin, it may make her spend a little more time looking for the hair than when there’s a nice contrast.

I will not bleach it then if it will make it easier for her. Another question, if my electrologist was making wrong insertions and undertreating, is this the cause for ingrowns. I did not have any ingrowns in that area prior to treatment in the last 2 months I have noticed more ingrowns and redness when the hair starts growing back. This means she did a bad job correct?

If she was “plucking” the hair instead of treating it, then yes that can lead to ingrowns. Some hairs once they start growing in like normal become ingrowns (I had some of those).

Today I did had a 30 minute appointment with a different electrologist I told her that I previously used to the shortwave method, and that I would like to use the blend method esp. because my hairs are coarse. She seemed to have technique as I didn’t feel the hairs being plucked. I am going to consult tomorrow and on sunday with 2 different people. I hope they are all good in their technique.

is it okay to use a remington hair trimmer (electrical the 2 days before electrolysis. or is a trimmer like shaving. or should I use a small scissors? The electrolysis I went to said it was better to use the small scissors.

The trimmer might be cutting the hair too close to the skin, when doing electrolysis the hair is removed from the follicle after epilation, it makes it difficult to grasp onto if it is very short.

How come the electrologists I am consulting with I ask them if I can do 2 hours to clear my face and they don’t recommend it? It seems that the skilled electrologists on this website do many hours to clear an area, like the face or another body part. I am confused, I need my face to be clear!!! I think my face only needs 1 hour and a half but I am not sure. I have been getting electrolyssi for 2 yrs barely any results, should I wait a month to let all the hair grow out before I commit to my electrologist? What should I do!!!

Also , I had a second consult today with thermolysis, and she claimed to have cleared people but again, I am feeling some plucking!!! I barely felt ANY plucking with my blend method electrologist ! WHAT IS GOING ON!!! I am putting so much mileage on my car! I am getting so desperate.

I understand what you expressing, as I have also had to travel to try to get E done on my face. I also have NEVER met a zapper who would do a " clearance " such as we read about here, on my face. I think that everything I read and photos I saw on this website really influenced me to believe that i could get those three or more clearances or so and be living a life somewhat hair free! But when you get out there and try to find that, well for the most of us ,it just isn’t found in our world! Yes there are Pro ,quality zappers like those on this forum however i suggest that they are few and far between and my general my experience has been like yours . Also I understand the face is a much more challenging place to complete. The face and sensitive and visible so you have to work slower and it takes a whole lot longer to achieve, so maybe the travel for clearance idea just isn’t realistic

I can’t and shouldn’t speak about what other electrologists are or are not doing, but will say, in general, most don’t go beyond an hour for two reasons:

  1. They were told in school not to over stress the skin, scatter the work.
  2. They physically can’t sit for more than an hour.

I can tell you why many of us pro’s that participate regularly on this forum can clear a PCOS woman’s beard or totally shape a young man’s beard in one clearance, but it will only serve to ruffle the feathers of some electrologists that feel particular products are being "promoted ".
