Electrologists on Long Island

Does anyone know of any good electrologists in Western Suffolk County or Eastern Nassau County on Long Island? Thanks for any help.

This should be a good start. Do your own research. You may get some suggestions here but I have found that the same people who say that you should find an electrologist with up do date equipment, end up telling you to go to their friends who happen to have quite old equipment.

So, make the calls, ask lots of questions, go for the free consultations, make sure they use sterile disposable probes, and ask if they do small test areas for free or for a small fee.

Good Luck.

May I suggest the Gior’s? http://newyorkelectrolysis.com/staff.htm

Fino is retired but his children are quite wonderful, and fast!

Michelle, if the referral by the anonymous poster is conveniently located, call them, interview them, and visit a few others in the vacinity and then choose.

The questions I suggest asking:
Are you CPE board certified?
Do you offer a free consultation?
Do you offer a free trial 2 minute sample treatment?
Do you use state of the art electrology equipment and how old is yours?
Do you use sterile disposable probes?
How do you sterilize the forceps?
What are your prices?

In any event, the link that I noted in my prior post should lead you to the New York Electrolysis Association and there are several electrologists on LI for you to interview.

Good luck and keep us posted as to how your treatments are progressing!

The Gior’s are renown in the industry. I wouldn’t hesitate going there.

Dear Michelle,

I remember an earlier post where you indicated that you had just started electrolysis. What have your experiences been like thus far? How did you go about interviewing the electrologists and how many did you test with?

Regarding the renown electrologist theory that suggests that famous automatically means better, I have seen enough electrologists work, and although operations like Lucy Peters and Fino Gior are well known, personally, I believe that being renown has a whole lot to do with extensive advertising, marketing, and PR. Some of these guys even suggest that they are so gifted that you should hop on a plane and fly out to them for treatment!

So, if you can’t afford the rates of Manhattan or Great Neck… if you are on a budget, if the suggested locations are inconvenient, do not worry as since you are on LI, where there are so many electrologists, it is possible to find a good one within your budget and within your locality.

Keep us posted!

Marcelle Kutan is in New Hyde Park. I don’t know if that’s near you. You can find her information in the directory at www.scmhr.org

Thank you everyone for the suggestions. I have been going to the Giors in Great Neck and they are wonderful. The only bad thing is that it is an hour away from my house. Oh well! What we do for hair removal!
Thanks again,
Michelle

As I’m sure Michelle already knows the Gior’s are not renown because they advertise. Quite frankly they are are just that good. I too put up with an hour or more drive to be treated by them.

Hi Michelle,
Do you want to find another electrologist or did you decide to stay where you are?

In any event, I stand by my prior post. For those of you who live within a budget and/or are unable to travel great distances for hair removal treatment, there is still hope for you as there are skilled electrologists throughout LI.

Hi Automatic,
I don’t know how many electrologists you interviewed with or how many you actually received treatments from but it seems that you have been having work done for quite some time now. How is it going?

In any event, for those who need more choices visit:

or

and start the interviewing process, good luck.

Hey Michelle,

Not to be cheeky, but if you ask me Arlene Batz does a pretty darn good job if you can hop into Queens from Nassau County.

Hi Arlene,
I started treatments with Fino Gior about 3 years ago. I’m taking an uneducated guess by saying that I’ve had about 90% of the hair on my back permanently removed. I’ve generally gone to treatments in spurts when time and money allow me too. Right now I’m on a bit of a hiatus for the summer. My biggest regret is not taking a before picture. I really wish I could show people on Hairtell just how great electrolysis can work, even on big areas like a male back. These days I consider myself to be a guy with a bit of hair on his back rather then a guy with a hairy back.

You bring up something that I just have to comment on.

First of all, starting out, everyone fights is the idea of taking a “before” picture. During the process, it is the only thing that can show the incremental progress even weeks later, and lastly, without the before picture, no one believes the “after” results. I just bumped into a former client in the mall this weekend. (Good Electroloigists lose all their best clients you know) She had PCOS so bad, she had 3 separarte cyst removal surgeries. Her face was fuzzy enough to give her the look of an otter, or baby seal. (All vellus hairs on the face turned black and got long!) She now has clear hairless skin that looks like it has been washed in yogurt and heavy cream every day, all her life.

The other thing is, with the hair removal as fast and as effective as you got with the Giors, would LASER be something you would consider now, given the pro’s and con’s of both?

I think asking for comparison to laser of someone who hasn’t done laser treatments is a bit unfair. How can anyone really say how laser would have worked if they haven’t tried it? What I can say is that it would have probably taken less than 3 years overall, even with finishing with electrolysis if it did work for him. But this seems like a baseless pointless question to me to ask at this stage in the game.

True, I can’t compare laser to electrolysis. I actually researched the pros and cons of each type of treatment for almost a year before I took the plunge. I even went to a laser consult. But I felt that I simply could not afford to try laser unless I knew for sure it would work. And there were too many people right here on Hairtell that seemed to have less then stellar results.

If I had the money I may have given laser a shot just too see. But I wanted to be a 100% sure my money would not be wasted. I felt and still feel electrolysis with a reputable practitioner was a sure bet.

Understand that the period of three years has more to do with my finances and my time then the speed of the practitioner. I’m pretty sure James will back me up when I say that Fino was scary fast.

Thankfully TomGraham has been kind enough to chronicle his work for all of us to see. Fino asked me if I wanted to do a before picture but sadly I was too stubborn.

But I wanted to be a 100% sure my money would not be wasted. I felt and still feel electrolysis with a reputable practitioner was a sure bet.

The sure bet. Exactly, for more than a hundred years. Electrolysis is great.

Mantaray

that’s a fair assessment. thanks. everyone should decide for themselves what’s worth for them specifically to do. i’ve had great results with both laser and electrolysis, and I feel the combination saved me a lot of time and money, compared to going with just electrolysis alone. it did have a lot to do with the research i did on lasers/settings/clinics, my skin and hair type, etc. so, it IS possible to get great results using the advantages of both methods. plus, of course, you’re in great hands with Fino Gior. great to hear that your results have been satisfactory.

Dear lagirl,
I think Fino is a fine referral but does he still administer electrolysis on Long Island?

Dear James,
I was wondering if you have ever had any direct treatment by those who inherited the Fino business. Are you familiar with their equipment? Have you had much interaction with them? Have you talked shop with any of them? Is anyone in their office board certified?

Dear Michelle,
I understand that you are currently going to the Gior office for treatment and are looking for a place that is more conveniently located. How is your search going? If people here give you the idea that there is only 1 office on all of LI where you can get good electrolysis, then I believe the credibility of posts here is diminished.

Thank you.

Arlene,
Fino is retired. Three of his children inherited the businnes. Unfortunatly I don’t know the answers to your other questions

no, i believe it’s his family members based on information here. i meant his “office”
