DIY'ers: Areas, Goals, Concerns, and Progress

And therinlies the problem with the optical electronic microscope. I doubt you will be able to insert that way. I still highly recommend an electrolysis partner! . If it were not for Nightfrost, I would still be having to go to an electrologist for parts I cant reach expecially under the neck. There is an electrical microscope that ws discussed in an earlier thread by Laurier, unfortunately they were pricey and started around $500 but the advantage was they worked in relatively real time on an ipad. They were also somewhat higher resolution. I dont know how close to real time though, the reality is it takes the graphics processor time to process the image.

As for me, the primry area I am working is the face and neck. I’ve made serious progress, but am being driven absolutely nuts by the finer hairs. I look in a standard mirror and I cant see them, but get my glasses and magnifying mirror out and I sure can. Worse, I can FEEL them . My goal is to run my fingers over my fce and feel smooth skin, not hair!

I would love a dedicated DIy partner, just don’t see it happening here.

I understand its very difficult and you’ve had some challenges with the people around you. You also just plain cant insert under your chin and under your neck and some places that are just plain difficult like the upper sides . For these areas you are either paying a pro, or you have someone who you are working with to learn. I got lucky because my boyfriend comes once a week, and loves sticking needles in and causing me pain  You can still start in those areas you can reach and that gives you time to figure out who.Sister, brother neibour, wife or husband doesnt matter. If you cant convince someone you have an issue that unfortunately can only be solved by pro treatments.

Yeah, I plan on having a lot removed professionally. I just want to do what I can to cut costs. I think I can do lower arms and some of my torso

chin upper lip and most of the cheeks are very doable as a DIY’er. It’s under the chin thats more difficult but you can sometimes pull bits of skin along the sides up over the cheek bones and get some of it that way but that only goes so far.

Seana, would you consider posting some photos of how you are set up when working on your own face ? You have described it but i would love to see it…as they say a picture is worth a thousand words!

umm I only have a cell and its ahard to do that by yourself but I’ll ask Nightfrost this weekend

Essentially what I do is this.
I have a smallish rectangulr mirror with a cheap plastic frame. I have 3 small hooks in my ceiling. I use string to suspend the mirror from the ceiling, flat over my bed. On the front of that mirror is a small 3 inch magnifying mirror, a 10X revlon one. It attaches tot he first mirror with suction cups. I put the pedal on the floor off one side of the bed. My loop lamp is attached to a side table and my machine on a rolling storage cart. I manipulate the loop lamp on either side of the mirror to give light. Then I just lie flat on my back on my bed with one leg over the side and hit the pedal with my heel. The mirrors are suspended a few inches above my face . It will swing if I knock it so I avoid that as much as possible .

It works in a very Red Greene / Duct-tape fever kinda way.

Ok so these arent the best pictures. I actually tried to get a video of this, but my cellphone seems to like to delete all new data from the SD-card and the phone wouldnt let me attach it to an email. But these three should give an idea of how I work. The primary advantage being I dont have to bend over at the waist or some other awkward position to epilate face hairs.
