Coarse Chin Hair Not Going Away

spaqueen2:

This post is exactly what I have been searching for so long now. This describes me spot on. I am indian, started laser hair removal on my face at 17 years old and have experienced this thick hair growth from my cheeks down to neck. I am 20 now. I feel so betrayed falling into the laser people’s trap. I’ve started electrolysis now (24 hours on face) so far and I’m not seeing a great amount of difference yet. I’m using blend. I would like to know how many hours of treatments did some of your similar clients take before they saw atleast 50% reduction? 100%? My electrologist has 10 years of experience, but after being betrayed by laser company I can’t trust anyone. Could you give me a rough estimate?

HI Sara,
I have observed paradoxical hypertrichosis following laser or ipl treatments in many of my Asian clients. Such cases account for 90% of my electrolysis clients in the last 4 years. I can only comment from my experience and the results I have seen with thermolysis and in clients that stick to their treatment plan. After 6 months of treatment, if you get a clearance in every session or over a couple of sessions close together, you should experience very good reduction. Most reach the 50% mark at 6-9 months. At 12 months most ladies need a couple of hours max every 2-3 months to clear. There are rare cases that keep needing more time at this mark, but these are usually clients who have not been attending regularly or ensuring they book enough time for clearance.
I would suggest you look at how many clearances over how long a period of time you’ve had, rather than how many hours you have had. If you could share this with us we will have a better idea where you stand and what you should expect at this time (although this can vary greatly from person to person).
Keep in mind blend is also a bit slower method than thermolysis because it takes a few seconds longer per hair, but it is totally worth it in some clients, reducing post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and pain sensation.

Hi Dolly,

Well, i am doing most of the treatments on my own clients in Syncro as well. It is my favorite modality specially on course hair.

Being (or having been) a client of electrolysis myself, i have experienced manually controlled fast thermolysis, i.e. pressing the pedal for about 0.5 secs. More painful than Synchro and a bit slower, but with the obvious advantage of being possible with even the simplest machine.
