Anyone reccommend a Manhattan Laser Center?

Hey, Chris, this is off subject, but I just thought to ask if your laser center treats telangiectasias (spider veins) on the legs? If so, does it work and what kind of laser gets the best results? I have so many electrolysis clients asking me this question and would like to pass on some information from an honest laser expert like yourself. Does laser work well or is sclerotherapy still the gold standard for lower extremity spider veins?

Thanks,

Dee

My dermatologist/laser technician told me that he doesn’t treat this condition with laser because it doesn’t really work. He says if it does work, the results are minimal and temporary.

The Cynosure Elite Laser seems to work VERY WELL for spider veins and the results are QUITE IMPRESSIVE. For bigger ones 3 mm and more, sclerotherapy is the best alternative.

Do you find sclerotherapy permanent? I have one small but thick and noticeable vein about 1.5 inches long on my calf I’d like removed, but my doctor said that the injection will only make it appear less obvious and it will eventually reappear. If it’s actually permanent, I’d love to do it. Maybe you can recommend someone good in NYC. How much would something like this cost? I read that you need several injections over a period of time. I’m assuming this isn’t covered by insurance like LHR.

Lagirl if and when you come to NYC stop by, I think I know someone.

I have had sclerotherapy injections on my lower legs with a hypertonic solution of saline several years ago. It worked great and they have not returned, however, collateral circulation probably developed and a few more have popped up over the years. It wasn’t costly to do. In fact, the price structure was and still is weird: Less than 13 injections - you pay $14.00 More than 14 injections - you pay $98.00. Go figure. The veins were injected, cotton balls were taped over the injection sites and then after all the injections were done, my leg was compressed with an ACE wrap. I usually got about 30-40 injections and went for a total of 4 times spread out over a couple months.

If laser is truly effective, then I may consider it. If the cost is prohibitive and results are iffy, then I would stick to sclerotherapy.

Thanks for the information Christian and Lagirl.

I have blocked the accounts LHADDICT and QBCMTR for violations of the terms of the site. It’s fine for people to disagree, but I do not permit people to promote their business by posing as consumers who make disparaging comments about competitors’ businesses.

If either member wishes to protest this ban, please contact me via email.

Andrea, I am glad that you caught these people AGAIN. As you all know, they did this again in 2006 ON THIS FORUM and ALL POSTINGS lead to them. Now, they are doing it again on other Forums, basically badmouthing us and touting themselves. They do not realise that they are hurting themselves by doing so.

Please read all the postings on Hairtell from 2006 regarding
LASER HAIR REMOVAL NYC and you can judge for yiurselves.

By the way Dee, you had asked me whether I have had a previous technician who worked for me and had perhaps a grudge against us. Yes, I had a technician from BROOKLYN who was fired in 2005, after repeatedly not following protocol and burning customers. Her name was Elizabeth and is now working for ASSARA LASER in New York, as she is featured on their advertisements.

As President of the New York State Association of Laser Hair Removal Specialists, I have been made aware of recent issues with customers who were at the facilities that Elisabeth worked in and will be posting them in due course.

By the way, there is another posting about us on this Forum.
Same content.

Mr. Karavolas:

I write this open letter in response to the defamatory remarks you have made on this, and other forums and consumer review websites, regarding our laser centers and specialists. Here, I wish to confine my remarks to your actions over the last several days.

You have stated in your posting dated October 19, 2008, that you have never attacked a center publicly and that your posts about our specialists convey public information. In your prior posting, dated October 16, however, you attempt to identify, by name, a former employee of yours, whom you assert was “fired” for misconduct and further assert is now under our employ.

As you are well-aware, your false and defamatory statements, which you purport to be factual, attacking us and our employees’ professional character or standing constitutes legally actionable defamation.

We caution you to be mindful – even if you are president of a New York association of hair removal clincs, personal attacks against an individual’s character and ability to practice in her licensed profession are illegal, damaging to an individual’s livelihood, unethical, and cause harm to our industry as a whole. We have known of your tactics, which have gone as far as initiating vexatious and meritless litigations against your competitors and the posting of negative reviews on consumer websites.

By this letter, we caution you to cease and desist the illegal and unethical courses of action you have taken to promote your business interests. If you continue on these courses, as we have in the past, we will request the moderators of this forum to ban you from posting further defamatory statements.

Will Shuman, Esq. | General Counsel - Consumer Relations and Affairs
Assara Laser Cosmetic Services

If you have any issues with Chris’s clinic, you need to contact him directly. These warnings are fluff and are not legal action (which I’m assuming is non-existent because the allegations are so baseless).

Chris, it looks like it’s time to get a lawyer and start the process.

Mr. Shuman:

Reference is made to your posting of today.

I am advised that you misstate the law of defamation. Since you are an attorney I am dismayed by your statements.

Nothing was stated about the character of the individual in question. Moreover, her employment with Assara Laser is believed to be factual. Does assara laser deny her employment??

I have said nothing about the quality of services rendered by Assara Laser.

Your reference my initiating vexatious and meritless litigation against my competitors. The only litigation I have initiated is against your firm for unfair competition. We will hopefully have the decision of the Court shortly.

I am advised that there is nothing illegal or unethical about my course of action as I trust you are well aware, as you are an attorney.

Romeo is right. Either praise romeo or kindly get off this site please. There are other boards around town. Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation.

Hmmm, legal councel spending time reading and posting on internet forums… I guess I would spend a day and maybe all night doing that too if I were able to charge $300 per hour for doing so.

I would give up electrolysis and maybe even sleep for a week or so, in the beginning.

IF that was really Will Shuman posting, according to a Google search, he is the founder and CEO of Assara. Maybe he gives himself a discount on legal fees?

I find it hard to believe that an owner would condone and defend this type of behavior by an employee. The more they (whoever THEY truly are) post, the better R & J (and Chris) look.

A funny thought occured to me, looking at that “legal councel” post. The subject is LASER hair removal clinics in New York State, and the “legal councel” talked about someone’s “licensed profession”. Since when does New York State (or any state for that matter) have a LASER Licensing Program?

There are states that have Electrolysis Licensing Programs (New York is NOT one of them) and there are states that allow MD’s to have LASER operations inside their offices, and there are states that allow Licensed Electrologists to also perform LASER without being in a doctor’s office, there is no LASER License Program.

New York DOES have a Cosmetology License Program, so I guess we should all be cautioned against impuning her color rinse skills, and make-up skills.

As general counsel I would think that defending the company is at the heart of the general counsel’s job no? But I agree with the posts above that a general counsel should probably not waste his time and money on frivolous claims by Romeo.

Let me put it to you this way. My attorney is very familiar with the volumes of slanderous materials excreated by a certain person in Arizona, but my attorney is not commenting on that person’s actions here, nor on that person’s php, nor any other web forum. Any contact between the Arizona Lunatic (copywrite and registered  ) and my legal councel takes place via registered and certified mail, or in person in a court of law.

James, we are working on a Laser Hair Removal Licensing Program through the New York State Dept of Higher Education. We have had meetings this past session with the various Bill Sponsors. We are hoping to have a good outcome.

Are we up to 4 new screennames by them now this week?
