AEA

I don’t know if this is allowed or not and if it is not then I am sorry Andrea. THANK GOD I NEVER JOINED THE AEA!!!

care to explain why you feel that way? From what I see they seem to do some good work as far as getting standards up to where they should be for things like sterilization and clenliness , as far as professional associations go they at least appear to be doing good work. Why Dis em?

Elitism

Sure all of us have our AEA stories and it’s usually about “hurt feelings.” I had this too (and complained), but so what? Who cares? I don’t … it’s all about the future! “Forget about it … shut up and move on!”

I just got de-briefed by Patsy Kirby (AEA convention in New Orleans) and I’m pretty positive about the new directions and personalities involved in the AEA.

The AEA? Folks, it’s what we’ve got (and ALL we’ve got). I’m going to join up again. I’m optimistic. Frankly, Patsy is my “scout” and she delivered my key idea and I think they get it … this time.

What’s the idea? Simple: nothing for “members only” and everything for FREE! This is the internet century and it’s ALL about open honest communication and FREE information for everyone. A website has only one goal: getting people to go there. People “go there” for ANSWERS! Today, people are savvy and can see thru the BS in a “New York minute!” It’s got to be real and straight … without the “help” of business/marketing types that are basically liars and con artists.

If the AEA gets this idea, membership will “skyrocket” and more and more people will want to share ideas and contribute. I think they are on the right track. There are still a few “hacks” that want AEA to be an exclusive club ruled by the “chosen few.”

But their ideas are outmoded and they need to rethink what worked in the past. Either that, or just get rid of them?

(I still have an uncle in Jersey! Uncle Guido! “AAAAAAYYYY, I can take care of it for youz!”)

Uummmm… I don’t think they are going in the direction you suggested, Mike. After the last 36 hours of intense debate, no, probably not free. I’m talking about an electrologists closed Facebook site. We’ll see though.

Ok Mike I will shut up and move on. and good luck with your new membership to the AEA. I’ll be rooten for ya.

GO Mike GO! see, I’ve already started

Well … not so fast!

Dee Dee,
It’s really hysterical that our posts “hit” at the same time. A “closed site?” I’ll think about this, but …

I do think that when something is decided upon (I mean to do something) there should be an actual goal, or reason for doing it. I suppose it depends on the audience “we” are trying to reach? What’s the payoff?

Let’s see: electrologists will join the AEA so that they can go on the “private site?” They will? Maybe?

There is NOTHING on Hairtell that is “exclusive” or “limited” or for “members only.” Yes, it can be totally “out there” now and then … but, so far, this is the ONLY website that I care to contribute to. (I’m a democrat … that’s with a “small D"!)

One thing I know about the internet public: the instant they see “exclusive” or “members only” they leave the site. Maybe AEA is not concerned with this vast group? Are we still going to remain “elitists,” as Gretchen from Colorado (correctly) said?

So a “closed site?” Electrologists wanting to “talk shop?” How much “shop” do we need after all? And, the public can’t see this? What’s the damned secret? Maybe I won’t join up afterall. Sounds “snobby.”

Gosh, This was the fastest I’ve ever joined and quit … in only a few minutes. Just “bitchin’.”

AEA needs to listen to the “Gretchens” out there, or will this remain an exclusive club?

Thinking about this again …

Actually, you did say it’s NOT “members only” and will involve any and all electrologists …

THAT’S a big deal! That’s not “elitist” and it’s a big GOOD step in the right direction. Okay … I’m “in” again.

(I often have conversations with myself and sometimes I lose! And, I just lost this one!)

“Just licensed?”

Would that mean electrologists from New York or Arizona could not participate, since they are NOT licensed in those States?

If that’s the case, then I’m “out” again … ha ha ha!

Why do you have to make this so complicated?

My dear sweet funny Michael Bono who argues with himself,

A new Facebook page, independent of the AEA’s private site for dues paying members only, has been started for electrologists, vendors, students to share with each other, ask for help, post meme’s related to electrolysis, etc. Pictures and video’s can be posted. It is inclusive and INVITES ALL ELECTROLOGISTS ON THE PLANET, excluding those in the Artic Circle and Antartica, to come together at no charge, to hang out and offer whatever they want. We think it will fulfill an important need that many of us desire. For now, it is called , ELECTROLOGY INTERNATIONAL. There may be a name change?, but we like the word INTERNATIONAL. You can join, too. It is free and the exchange of conversation is not restricted. It is a perfect place for democrats with a small “d” to hang out.

I will change the wording to any electrologist can join from a licensed or unlicensed state, province, country or region.

so you dont like the AEA because of exclusivity, but create a "exclusive " organization yourself? Reminds me of some kids clubs where the boys and girls each make their own “exclusive club”. And pretty much guarantees any student will likely give you a pass.

Sorry Andrea, but that kind of thinking really ticks me off. Talk to me about it on susans if you like.

Seana

Yes, that is correct.

If you are a student, you can participate. If you are not involved with a program or apprenticeship, then a DIY forum exists here on Hairtell. There is plenty if information there or other places on the Internet. Susan’s site is a great choice for learning galvanic, Seana.

Mike I think it would be really cool if you got your toes wet every so often over at Electrology International. You have to much in your head not to participate over there too.

SeanaTG, I strongly suggest that you go over to the AEA and hangout over there if that’s were you feel comfortable, but only if your a member. Otherwise you might be stuck over at Susan’s or some other weird creepy place.

Gretchen, if you have feelings about the AEA, then you are entitled to them . I only asked that you justify them, since a blanket statement of : thank god I never joined" doesnt tell anytone anything about them or your reasoning why. That said I would take issue with you calling susans a “weird creepy place”. It’s a site that has helped THOUSANDS find hope, information, and comraderie whilst in transition, something I would think you would be sensative to, but perhaps not. It’s also a site used by many therapists and endocrinologists both to gleam extra information, and as a reference point to refer clients for more unbiased information. Frankly, your statement is unwarranted and inflamatory. There’s a few thousand people worldwide who would take great offense to your statement.

Dee, Your bias towards me has been apparent for some time. I have tried very hard to ignore the snide comments and be polite regardless in return, but to no avail. It wouldnt matter at this point if I was enrolled in a school, ( something I’ve looked into heavily at this point, but cant afford) it’s my belief you would find some other way to discriminate. While I wish you well in your endeavours, I believe your bias against those who are learning is ultimately detrimental to people who do so.

Be well,

Seana

Hi Seana,

I can tell you that you “have it wrong” about Dee.

Here’s the thing … it’s ALL about the difficulty we have using “symbols” … the written word. As God Himself found out, you can’t WRITE anything without it being misinterpreted! And, that’s why there are so many “denominations” of Christianity and all the other religions … ALL based on how someone reads the “written words.” So, if God Himself couldn’t get it right … well, probably we can’t either.

I know Dee, and her authentic kindness is pure and something I have come to rely on. Dee does try (maybe too hard) to please all sides and sometimes gets everybody angry with her. For myself, I ALWAYS screw it up and often talk (write) before thinking things through completely. I recognize the “idiot” in myself and I’m open about it. We are all just humans and therefore flawed.

I wish Marshall McLuhan were still alive. This “internet” thing is so monumental that few of us can really grasp where this is all going. (The dictators in the Middle East are discovering what this is all about!) I’m hoping that at least a couple AEA “brass” can grasp this significance. “The medium IS the message.” (They need to write that sentence 10,000 times to “get it!")

I had a compelling conversation with AC Moore yesterday (he’s seen on CNN financials/Asian market expert). I said I think that “advertising and marketing” is going to become obsolete … he agreed!

Consider this: “Tiny” Laurier needles appeared here on Hairtell and now has more than a million “hits.” You cannot buy that kind of exposure! And the conversation was REAL; not manufactured in some “marketing department.”

Isn’t that what YOU all want? REAL and fully democratic? Read up, sometimes, about how M.I.T. got over 2 million hits and how they did it and what that did to enrollment.

(Gosh I’m such an old “blow-hard.”)

Seana I do not know Dee nearly as well as Mike but I know her enough to say that you are so off base its sad. You are always the victim aren’t you?

I have to chime in here too. Until last night I didn’t realize it was even possible to get Dee really MAD about anything.

Folks, PLEASE remember that the written word has TEN TIMES the impact of the spoken word. Everybody be careful how you use language; it’s so easily misinterpreted. We don’t want unnecessary hurt feeling (again) … and it happens all the time.

For an insightful look at how “The Word” created wars, genocide and subjugation of women, etc., read “The Alphabet vs. The Goddess.” Were I still teaching history, this would be one of my required reading assignments.
