You can always just look on the screen on the machine and see the settings.
lol yeah that’s what I tried to do but the machine was kind of far away… when I asked her why It’s confidential she said because she doesn’t want me to give the information to other providers such as Spas … It didn’t make any sense to me… I mean if spas or other places buy GentleLase they will know what settings to use eventually…right? she did tell me that she used 15mm spot size on the first treatment and 18mm this time, but she said that she lowered joules, because she doesn’t want to burn me. well my goal was to get her to use 18mm and +14 J…but I don’t know if she’ll do that…
You can tell her that that’s like going in for a surgery where the doctor refuses to share with you what they’re going to do to your body.
If I get a test spot with high setting and don’t get burned , will I be able to have the whole area treated with that setting? Im thinking about getting my legs done next, but the hair isn’t that coarse, keep in mind I’ve has 6 treatments with a YAG laser .
Can you post a picture?
this is the back of thigh , i have alot of ingrown hair, that is the main reason why i dont shave.
A skilled electrologist using the a faster mode of thermolysis, could get you cleared in 1-1.5 hours. This doesn’t look thick enough for laser.
from what i was told by my electrologist , thermolysis will only work for thin hair. she was even doing blend for my stomach which has long fine hair all over, only recently i’ve asked her to use the Apilus epliator she has. I’ve shown my thighs to her before, she said she would do blend. and when you say 1-1.5 do you mean just for one leg or both?
One leg, Roma. That reflects what I can do using the faster modes of thermolysis.
Her beliefs/statements about thermolysis are grossly incorrect. Stay with her if you desire, she will still give you permanent hair removal with blend, but if you want this to proceed faster and get those clearances, save some money and have the benefit of less sensation, shop for someone that can do Microflash or PicoFlash thermolysis. Just my advice. Someone may think differently.
I totally agree with Dee. These hairs are to be removed with adequate thermolysis in the flash mode, Picoflash is the best in order not to feel pain.
However, in the area that is seen in the photo, many lack the presence of hairs, which have not had sufficient time to emerge.
It means that many of then have to emerge yet, so treating with Electrolysis, just at this moment, would seem to be a failure.
It is a limitation of the laser, but it seems that Electrolysis is not effective.
ded10 can you explain a little more on why electrolysis would be a failure ?? when will be a good time to get this area cleared?
I should also add that I went to see a new electrologist today, and had a 15 minute sample with her… she used her Apilus platinum, i felt some plucking at times, but it’s my stomach so it’s very hard to see, and feel the hair … she is also an instructor and she is having students work on models. I made an appointment for tommorw to have one of the students work on me… im having second thoughts about this… but it seems like its such a good deal. What do you guys think? Is it too risky to have a student work on my body? ( of course no face!)
I think Ded10 is losing something in the translation.
I believe what she was trying to say is that a person would easily think that electrolysis was failing because hair appeared to be “regrowing” but it would need to be cleared out totally and then recleared on schedule until the number of hairs visible decreased and the amount of time needed to clear it all reduces as well.
Electrolysis is never a failure when well performed, and done on schedule.
You should be ok with students doing the work, as you are working on the body. In my experience, students are much better at body work, than they are on faces.
Take a deep breath, and relax.
I would say you would be in great hands with students doing body work and I would not worry if a student worked on my face if I were you. The students may or may not be slower than experienced electrologist. The instructor should know if the student has the experience to work on a persons face. That is part of their job as an instructor. The client should be able to communicate with the student and let them know if something does not feel right.
I just finished schooling and did not have any complaints from clients about face work. They got permanent hair removal for a very low price. With the right equipment some of the students may just surprise you at how skilled they might be.
the hair looks sort of in between. laser could work or it could not. it would be a bit of a gamble. so it’s up to you.
and yes, thermolysis can easily treat this hair. blend is really only necessary for thick curly hairs that are deep, at least from my personal experience. this hair can definitely be treated with thermolysis.
from what the instructor told me the student has purchased her Apilus epilator from her , so I’m guessing she would be using the faster form of thermolysis on me. I will definately speak up if i felt plucking or pain during treatment. I’ll keep you guys updated with pics after my treatment .
Exactly James. what I mean is that it can seem a failure in view of the client. IT IS NOT A FAILURE, IT JUST SEEMS.
Okey here’s my leg after an hour and half of electrolysis on one leg she used Picoflash. I’m sort of discourged because it just seems like I have soo much hair on my legs, and it will take at least months before i get the first clearance…I’m still thinkin about if laser would be a good option to get more reduction…
Since your hair removal worker has an Apilus, I wish she would turn on the auto-sensor and get used to working with it. It would at least increase her speed.
Of course, I can’t computer chair quarterback her work. I don’t know what she is dealing with, or what her vision set up is like.
What more can we say but, given enough time, you would get what you want.
This picture is fuzzy. It will not take forever if she is moving along at a good clip. You will not get there any faster with laser and laser, in my opinion, will do little for the structure of hair that you presented in that first picture. Don’t let anyone stand in your way if you are so bent on getting laser. The thigh area has a history of not responding as well as the lower legs from the posts I’ve seen over the years. You need to be patient with both modalities. Permanent hair removal involves a series of baby steps.
Estimated Roma, is a pity that her electrologyst not be faster. She has to follow the example of Ayrton Senna http://picasaweb.google.es/jm0158969/1HourInLegs#5329894425839640946
However, time and money you spend on Electrolysis, is a guarantee of success. If you opt for the laser, you play the lottery.
