Would you like fries with that?

I havent done any E on my body, and have not yet begun self done E , though the machine has been purchased  …however the electrolysist here told me that work on the body makes it look all torn up like hamburger meat for at least 2 weeks while it heals !! Is that true? Like a bloody big mac ?? oooooo

It should not look like the description you have given at all. When doing electrolysis anywhere on the body or face a there may be some redness for a few hours after, sometimes longer, but it should never look like torn flesh.

Don’t make me hungry, Danika, as I am deflaming at the moment (meaning, I am into anti-inflammatory eating habits).

Body work can present with a different timeline for healing than facial work and it may look harsher than facial work. Not to worry. It is all good and fine and to be expected, but we all do the best that we can to minimize those temporary skin manifestations.

electrolysislady, the electrolysist was only referring to body work.

Ha Dfahey, good luck with that!! I just ate waaaay too many cookies so I cant comment! But hamburger meat, really ??

Danika, in my experience effective body work is more prone to scabs (by that I mean possibly every follicle). So in my case, given my ethnicity there was very dark and obvious PIH in some places. My arms just scaabed and after a few weeks once the scabs had fallen off, they looked fine. Areas like my centre chest and thighs had extensive pigmentation though. Most of it had faded until it’s barely noticeable within 3 months but some of the thigh PIH is persistent. To be honest, it hasn’t caused me any issues but it’s good to know to be prepared. I know none of those treated hairs are coming back and that’s more than enough for me.

Basically there’s swelling and in most cases quite a few red dots, which eventually turn into scabs that fall off. (Sometimes with a little help… they do get quite itchy!) Never thought of it as hamburger, more like a polka dot dress just not as cute.

That said, it’s hard to tell what kind of a reaction you might get from DIY electrolysis. I’ve done some DIY blend and I just had some pinkness and swelling that went away after some hours… BUT I’m very squeamish about turning up the intensity!

soso… Aber mach das bitte nicht auf der Oberlippe. Das hat einer Kundin schon mal eine echte Narbe beschert.

even i leave my scabs from electrolysis alone. And that is, admittedly, really hard for me.

Of course, Beate. It’s never a good idea to pick scabs on the face, I should have clarified that. Or any kind of fresh scabs for that matter.

But I must say that scabs on dense body work can start driving a person quite batty with itchiness after 3-4 weeks.

Then Your electrologist will try to reduce the settings. If it existed she would also use a size 4 IBP with a kelly tip. Would bei ideally suited against Your hairs.

Well, scabs are a pretty normal temporary side effect in electrolysis.

The amount and healing time seems to depend on the area treated, whether it’s fleshy or muscular/bony and if the skin there is very sensitive/thin.

A first clearance has the most side-effects anyway. They are never as irritating in subsequent clearances and they disappear much faster.

At least in my observation.
