Would laser be right for me?Male with darkish skin

Hi everyone,

here is a picture of me: http://elfdata.com/photos/Age_7_plus_21.jpg this is indoors so the lighting isn’t so great.

here’s another http://elfdata.com/photos/side.jpg this is outdoors in natural sun light.

I’m not sure how to say how dark I am except that I’m not white  and I’m definitely lighter than Indian types. I guess you could say I have the darkness typically associated with an Arab…

I’m a male, obviously.

I really want to be rid of this hair growing on my face.

I live in London. I’ve never had laser before, the only thing I’ve done is shaved.

I’ve considered buying my own IPL or Tria laser hair removal device. The IPL is 2700£ ish on ebay, and the Tria around 600£ on ebay.

I’d pay that much if I KNEW FOR SURE that it would work and wouldn’t cause problems and would give me permanent loss of hair (With moderate retouching say once a year or so). But will it? And how do I avoid paying for something and only later finding out that it doesn’t work with me because maybe I’m too dark or something?

For what it’s worth… I don’t burn in the sun. But I do tan quick.

Or is there something better suited for me than laser or IPL? Ideas anyone?

Find a practitioner with experience and a YAG laser. Or find an experienced electrologist. They can both remove the hair better than you can yourself with the machines you listed.

Thanks.

Any other people with different opinions though?

Do you suggest YAG by professionals for EVERYONE or just for darker skin types? Wouldn’t home IPL have a filter that can allow lower frequencies through?

Yag is for darker skin tones. Your night picture definitely looks like a YAG treatment however your day time picture looks as though you could get away with an Adjustable Pulse Alexandrite such as Cynosure Apogee Elite, Gentlemax, Lite Age
LP or LPX.

i would not use IPL for your skin tone.

Thanks. Yeah sorry about the difference in colors in my pictures… Im not a good photographer.

Keep in mind that if you want full permanent hair REMOVAL and not just REDUCTION, you will need to find an electrolysis provider for either the entire job, or for removing the hairs that LASER leaves behind, or stimulates into being.

Hopefully, there are some recommended practitioners in your area listed on this forum.
