Worried about results and spots

Hello,

I’m done with 10+hours of electrolysis and my last session was 10 days ago. I’m getting my face done (focusing on the chin and upper lips) . I’m worried that it’s not working well for me. My chin has pretty much the same amount of hair even when it has been done everytime in my total of 5 sessions). I’ve marks from every insertion and I’m not sure if the pain and side effects are worth it as the hair are still growing. Attaching pictures from my last session and now after 10 days of recovery and regrowth.

Would appreciate any inputs on my concerns

I think its important to know that hair grows in layers/stages, so in other words, you wont be able to grow out “all” the follicles out on the face in just one week or so. This is way too much scabbing imo. Most people Ive met online never get sent home like this. Let this heal and then find a new provider. In the meantime, shave (not wax, tweeze, etc) to reduce inflammation to your face. I am in a similar situation - it really sucks when youve been with an electrologist for awhile and they arent sufficient at their work or goof up and scar you and you have to leave them. I feel like mine wasnt deliberately trying to goof my electrolysis up, she seemed to genuinely care. But she did, and now I have to drop her. Shes just a bad electrologist. Good luck with your “second opinion”. Theres actually at least three kinds (thermolysis, blend, galvanic) of electrolysis out there. You may need a lower setting, or a different method all together. Im a patient myself and retired medical provider. Not an expert on electrolysis, just a friend.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I’m stuck because I’ve paid for 30 hours in advance. I feel so naive and hopeless in this situation. I would try to get a different technician at the same centre. Also, they say they use blend method and from what I’ve read online, it’s suppose to be a scab free method but it doesn’t seem like the case with me. At this point I just Ihope the marks fade away.

The scabs are completely normal and will fade over time, please do not be worried and keep up the treatment, you will definitely see progress over time!

I dont see anything wrong with this work. There are smallish honey coloured scabs on the earlier pictures, and very little sign of texture issues in the followup other than ordinary wound contraction. The electrologist seems to be scattering their work, there are no formation of scabs all in a line. I’m guessing this was done in blend or galvanic ( most likely blend) .
I would have no problem receiving treatment from this electrologist.
You have more hair on your face than you realize, and it doesnt all grow out at once. You can expect that hairs that have never shown will continue to come out over at least 3 cycles of growth ( 3-5 months) which have to be destroyed as they come in.There is no way after 10 hours of treatment you have made a meaningful impact on hair growth, and you wont know it for at least one cycle of growth.

Thank you for this. Unfortunately my scabs did scar. I guess it depends on how the scabs “look” ? Mine were dark maroon spots.

how would you know? True scarring doesnt show up for 9-10 months. What you are seeing are just temporary healing manifestations of the skin, I can say with absolute certainty that no scaring will develop from this treatment.

Have you watched videos on electrolysis wound healing process from Electrology Now youtube page? Watch all 4 parts on The Healing Skin and video on brown spots PIH which will help you understand the healing process you’re experiencing. There was no over-treatment on you. The spots you’re seeing are normal manifestation that will fade. Don’t pick on them. When they’re fresh after treatment you can use vaseline or better bepanthen cream with occlusion for several days which helps soften the scabbing that sloths off on its own faster. Tee tree oil as spot treatment also helps with scabbing but don’t use it for more than couple of days as tee tree oil can become irritating.

Im not discussing this case right now, just my own experience. My scabs are long gone.

I have more than small dents, these are clearly scars, theyre icepick scars. Deep. I considered a lawsuit, but luckily most of it is under my very angular, thin chin, so cant be easily seen.

The PIH I have is another issue; I have both. Icepicks dont typically disappear.

no you really dont have scars. And icepick cars are not generally caused by electrolysis, they are more commonly caused by cystic acne. But again, you dont have anything that would be described as an “icepick scar” . What you are seeing is normal wound contraction and will resolve fully in time. However I’m of the opinion that nothing that can be said to you is going to change your mind on this so …I’m gonna stop trying.

I never had cystic acne. She did this to me. Her hands were slipping. I bled a lot. She has multiple reviews on her site which are negative warning about scarring years after the process.

My dermatologist told me, frankly, that they are icepick scars AND PIH, and recommended fraxel, but I just dont have time for that right now. Im busy. But I will listen to the skin specialist on this issue.

This is nasty, and I am beyond my patience limit with this provider. Its mostly my own fault. I read the google reviews, and forgot to check yelp. You NEVER do that with things that matter like your face. If I hadnt been so careless, this wouldnt have happened. I am not going to act like my own actions didnt influence what happened to me, they did.

I failed to be an informed customer. I am just going to drop it here, though. I’m not going to her ever again, and she is an awful electrologist. Thats just full stop how I feel. Now that Ive found a more qualified provider, I dont really have any further use for this site, so thanks.

Listen to what Seana is telling you. She’s totally correct. You have no worries … trust me, I know “worries!”

It’s okay Mike, I just summon my inner asshat when I need to.
I try but I honestly dont understand what is the point of such posts? Are they looking for affirmation then angry when they receive what they didnt expect? What exactly are they seeking to accomplish? Very frustrating.

Thank you for the reassurance. I’m aware that electrolysis is a lengthy process and requires patience but I the scabs scared me. It was maybe because I felt that there were no visible results too. I’ll continue with the treatment and be a little more patient. Hoping for the best.

Not sure but I think there is some confusion here, @unfunnyjoke is discussing about their experience and not about my post or the associated pictures.

Ye I thought @unfunnyjoke was the original post with the pics in this thread insisting that they were scarred but it’s not their pics. OP has been reassured that she is not seeing scarring and that she needs to commit to more treatments to start seeing results.
