Why is it not healing? Photo 36 hours after and 5 days after - doesn't seem to be getting better

So I’ve been doing electrolysis for many years. This is the 4th time on my upper lip - with two different practitioners, both new to me as my original one retired (who used blend). Never had much in the way of side effects on my chin. With the lip, I went from huge swelling and pus the first time on my lip (she did blend and thermolysis) to a new person (blend) who I get lots of larger than pinpoint scabs and redness, usually for about 7 days - with each day getting better. There seems to be some hyperpigmentation resulting (redness/purpleness) initially from the first treatment and possibly onward. I do about 30 minutes once a month so far. So far, there is no lessening of the hair (I was nearly done with my chin, with more hair, by the 4th treatment) and there is a lot of “yanking” of the hair in treatments.

This last treatment 5 days ago, despite her saying it was on a low setting, was esp. painful and my lip doesn’t seem to be getting progressively better as it would prior. The first photo is 36 hours after treatment. The second photo is the 5th day today, and it looks the same. Some are not scabs but still little open marks.

I’m not sure if I should find another provider or give up altogether, if perhaps my skin isn’t cut out for this. Did she over treat? Why is it not healing the same way this time? Any tips on what might have happened, so I can avoid it, would be helpful. As well as what could be going on this time. Thank you. (The saturation is higher on the second photo, my skin looks a little tanner - it isn’t.)

Hi, I’ve just replied to your other post. I just wanted to add a comment about the method used for your upper lip treatment. Generally, the hair in this area is situated closer to the skin surface. And the closer the follicle to the surface is the drier it is. Shallow hairs don’t have enough moisture to be treated with blend or pure electrolysis as these methods require higher water content to produce ‘lye’ responsible for the hair destruction by chemical reaction. Usually, the best method to treat the upper lip area is by flash thermolysis. You’ve mentioned your previous reaction to thermolysis wasn’t good, but how exactly?
To be fair, I think it’s the electrologyst’s skill, not a particular modality that makes a difference.
With a correct technique no skin damage occurs. In the pictures below, the first is taken straight after the treatment and the second one - 3 days later. Flash thermolysis.
Perhaps, you can search for a more skilled electrologist - referrals, online reviews, see if they have a website with the pictures showing their own work results.

Thank you this is helpful. The thermolysis blew up my my lip - there was pus too. She did one side thermolysis and one side blend. The blend side was not great but not horrible. The thermolysis side looked like I had a horrible allergic reaction to multiple bee stings.
