I watched a video this past weekend that was full of mistruths about galvanic electrolysis being the best modality and that thermolysis is not permanent. No wonder the consumer is confused when self-serving professionals taut theirs as the best.
I performed all three modalities in my career, galvanic multi-needle, blend and thermolysis. I did all very well and achieved permanent results for my clients. I settled on thermolysis for reasons I won’t expand on right now, as I have already done so many times over the years here on HairTell. If thermolysis, (flash and manual) was not permanent and people were being harmed and results were not being delivered, then why am I and the majority of other electrologists still in business, with long waiting lists?
Those that do multi-needle galvanic with 16 or 32 or even 64 dangling needle wires, are welcomed and respected in our profession for doing what they do well because we are free to choose. We are not free to make up our own facts. Those that tout multi-needle galvanic as the best, never learned how to perform thermolysis (flash and manual) properly and thus, concluded that thermolysis isn’t permanent or that it scars. They couldn’t perform well even with the principles we are all taught in our training programs, perhaps related to not doing accurate insertions.
Any modality of electrolysis can leave one with over treatment and skin side effects. I just saw a horrible picture of skin scabbing after multi-needle electrolysis was done on a consumer. I am not free to share that here because it is on a closed site for electrologists only. We see other pictures from blend and thermolysis over treatment as well. Improperly placed energy creates problems, not the modality used.
What does this mean for you? The best thing you can do is try to get a referral from trusted sources or from someone who is finished and happy. Get a short appointment for yourself and see how you heal. Some methods are slower than others. Try all three modalities and see what you prefer. If the hair does not slide out easily, if you feel pulling, then there will be regrowth.
Be wary about comments that flash thermolysis is not permanent. It is permanent or I would have no referrals and would be out of business, as would others, who have been doing thermolysis for decades. These practitioners need to go back to basics and learn how to do thermolysis and every modality properly or they need to ask to be mentored from those that know exactly how to perform thermolysis, a fabulous modality. Consumers appreciate the many advantages that thermolysis offers.
