Is it better (when working on body hair) to come in for long sessions once a month and completely strip an area each time (a la Electrology 3000) or is it better to go in for shorter, weekly appointments and just catch stragglers as they appear? My face is 99.8% clear; 15 minutes once a month will catch any little stragglers, most of which are blond hairs. I could probably not go again ever and not have to worry about visible facial hair. I am still finishing up my fingers, though, and about to start work on my toes and areola area. I like to get initial clearance done as fast as possible, obviously, but I feel like if I work on too many areas at once I waste time (having to reposition myself, sterilize, etc.) Any advice?
Once a month for your face sounds right at this point, but you can combine one or two areas at once per single visit. Yes, first full clearance is the goal. Thereafter, one definitely wants to walk out of her electrologists office CLEARED each and every time. I frequently follow the strategy where even though I am working on one area, when that area is cleared, we move onto the next area of concern and so on and so forth. One reaches a time where it is not unreasonable to maintain 4-5 areas in one visit. So, when your fingers are cleared, move onto the toes and areaola’s. This is more than possible to do in one session especially if flash or microflash thermolysis is the modality of choice. Repositioning, etc. is not a problem. Get the hair off as fast as possible and KEEP IT OFF (maintained). No one gets out of my office if they are not cleared each time after the first full clearance, unless they continually sigh about all their money troubles and how they can’t afford permanent hair removal. Then, I tell them if they want 20 minutes a month, then all I told them about success in 9-12 months is not going to happen for them. It is best to be aggressive up front and stay aggressive until the end. Hair is a tough enemy, but electrologist and client always win if all principles are followed regarding the art, skill and TIMING of electrolysis care.

I am with Dee on this one. At a certain point, some of my clients are clearing face, neck, chest and pubic areas in the same appointment. Even then, eventually one just can’t full up that much treatment time and can’t come more than a certain (in)frequency.
