What's this?

I got laser hair removal on my upper legs and full bikini using the Gentlelase (14 J, 18 mm) three days ago. Most of my skin went back to normal within a day or so, but some parts of my upper thighs have pinkish spots on them. This was my first time having LHR on my upper legs, but I’ve had many sessions on the bikini area with a Yag, including some of the areas that are now spotty.

Here’s a pic of them the day after the LHR:

And here’s one three days later:

The technician warned me that I might scab on ares with darker skin (like the creases of my legs) but the spots only seem to appear on the places where you can see them in the photos and I don’t see any scabs, although the spots do seem a tad tender and go brighter in the shower.

Is this hyperpigmentation or what? It improves each day, so I assume it’s temporary - is it bad beyond the temporary effects?

I just noticed that the spots may look worse in the second picture, but that’s just the lighting. They’re actually improving.

Those might be some minor burns. I’ve they are roundish, like the spot area of the G-LASE, that’s what they might be. I had some similar looking burns on my upper legs. They went away after a while I forgot about it. I don’t think they are anything to be too concerned about, however.

the second picture looks exacly the same. I think you messed up the link for it. I doubt you have the lines they drew 3 days later. by the way, those lines should be in white or red, not black.

overall, look like minor burns. your legs are probably more tanned than the bikini. Did you expose them to the sun recently? if this is happening at 14j, you may need a Yag there.

Thanks for the input!

Oh yeah, here’s the link to the later photo:

I heard back from the laser tech. She says I’ve had a bit of a reaction, it’s common, especially on the thighs, and that they’ll turn brownish and fade by my next treatment. And I should apply Polysporin (i.e. Neosporin) twice a day. She had told me to apply it if I saw scabbing, but I’ve just been applying aloe gel mixed with tea tree oil instead.

That part of my legs hasn’t seen sunlight in five or six months.

If it will just fade, is there any reason to switch to a Yag? The clinic does have a Yag, but I’m specifically going there to use the Alex.

What do they think about which machine to use after this reaction, since they have both machines? It seems that your legs look like a type IV or so, at least in these pictures.

This will fade after a while, but this shouldn’t be happening in the first place when the proper laser and settings are used.

When I went for my consultation, she said she only uses the Yag on pretty dark skin because the Alex is so much better, so I’m pretty sure she plans to continue using the Alex.

I’ve had two laser techs tell me I’m type 3 and two tell me I’m type 4. I would say I have light olive skin that burns sometimes.

I’ll see how the healing goes, but it seems like a okay trade-off to have this for a bit in exchange for better permanent hair reduction.
