i have indian skin (type IV i think?). i’ve had consultations with 2 clinics now re laser hair removal. first one uses Aesthera PPx, the second one uses ND:Yag (which they say is better for indian skin). ND:Yag costs 50% more than PPx, but i don’t want PPx if it’s not as effective obviously. i intend on getting full bikini, underarms, full legs and upper lip. i have coarse hair on bikini and lower legs (from years of shaving), the rest of my hair is pretty fine.

so what’s the best option for me? help!!! :eek:

  • Where are you located? You should only be using a Yag laser. PPX is mostly a gimmick. I wouldn’t even consider it. There are probably more clinics in your area with Yags. See our tips for finding clinics near you.

  • You shouldn’t treat all areas at once. Start with one smaller area with coarse hair like bikini and see how it goes before you trust the clinic with more and more expensive areas.

  • Is the hair on your underarms coarse? Usually underarm hair is coarse enough for laser.

  • You’ll likely be better off with electrolysis on your upper lip, especially if you don’t want to risk induced growth on that area from laser, common on women of your ethnic background.

  • I wouldn’t treat upper legs if the hair is fine there. It likely won’t be affected. You can try it of course, but just something to think about.
