after i get my first treatment of electrolysis done what will it look like?
is it going to look like i just plucked? (mostly hairfree for a few days) or will the hair be there for a few treatments and then start coming out?
i start thursday and i dont know much about it…i know the results are not immediate and will take multiple sessions and i know enough to find a clean and sanitary place but i dont know what im supposed to look like after my first treatment
With electrolysis, each individual hair is treated, lifted out gently and then discarded. You leave the office minus the hair, unlike laser where you have to wait 1.5-3 weeks for shedding to occur.
Depending on many factors, such as your skin charactaristics and healing powers, the skill of the electrologist and her/his decision making ability to judge proper use of intensity and timing, probe choice, your aftercare routine, amount of time worked, modality used, equipment used, structure of the hair, temporary methods used before, stage of growth the hair is presenty in, your skin appearance can range from slightly pink for several minutes to red for a couple to several days afterwards. Give your electrologist feedback even if she doesn’t ask.
Facial and neck work: you may get a few scabs at first, with some pinkness/redness, but the scabs should be very small and gone within a week or ten days.
Body work: scabbiing and little red dots are to be expected and is nothing that should cause you undo concern because they will fade away. It’s called the healing process.
Good aftercare with witch hazel, cold aloe vera gel (clear stuff) and dabs of tea tree oil at night should help the healing along.
Anything that bothers you, you should discuss with your electrologist, so she/he can refine and re-think her plan of care. The first several appointments are the hardest it will ever be, but things calm down after that first clearance is achieved.
Pop in and tell us how everything goes for you.
