I had laser hair removal on my legs two weeks ago. I am a guy. I have a lot of shedding, but there are lots of hairs that won’t shed - I even gently tried to pluck them with a tweezer and they won’t come out. Also, I have two rectangular areas where A LOT of the hair hasn’t shed - only about 10% of it has shed in these areas. What do I do. I am not aiming for complete hair removal. I want to have some hair on my legs, so need even reduction. Please help.
The rectangular areas sounds like it was a missed spots. What you’re experiencing is called “pepper spots,” and it is super common to experience this on the legs.
“Even” hair reduction with laser hair removal is VERY difficult (although not impossible) to achieve. Realize some body areas can take up to 20 days to shed. Any hair that remains firmly attached after that time can be considered missed hair. If your goal is “even” reduction, electrolysis would be a better choice, but only with a practitioner experienced in “heavy” cases.
hi, thanks for your messages. i am sticking with laser for now as i have bought a package and it’s not refundable. a lot of hair regrowth is actually even. it is only a few areas where there is irregular regrowth. the regrowth is a pattern where my therapist went over sections too quickly. i was just wondering, if i don’t have the area retreated, (retouched) and continue having treatments every 12 weeks or so then would it eventually even out. ALSO - if i left it and had not further treatments, would the missed area even out over two or three years or so or will i always have the missed area showing. also i have noticed my therapist has treated into an area near my bikini where i didn’t want her to treat - i think she slipped into the bikini area by accident, as i can see a thick line. not happy about it this at all. the hairs only shed yesterday in this area and it is equivalent to the spot size that she used. what shall i say to them about this.
Generally speaking, packages are only advantageous for the provider. Unless all of the hair is eliminated, the area will remain patchy.
As long as the hair is not growing, you’re fine. Pepperspots will come out eventually or will be burned off at your next treatment.
To avoid patchiness, make sure they overlap when treating by 10%.
