What to do before and after laser hair removal?

Hey everyone!
I wanted to share some tips I’ve picked up on how to get the best results from laser hair removal. I’m currently six sessions in at Celebrity Laser & Skin Care, and these are things they’ve told me along the way that have made a big difference. Hopefully, they help someone here too!
Before Your Laser Session:

  • Shave the Area: Make sure to shave the area 24 hours before your appointment. Avoid waxing or plucking because the laser needs the root of the hair in place to be effective.
  • Skip Skincare Products: Go easy on moisturizers, deodorants, or any lotions right before your appointment. The skin should be bare and clean.
  • Avoid Sun Exposure: Try to avoid sun exposure (and tanning beds!) at least 2 weeks before your appointment. It makes the skin more sensitive and can affect results.
  • Stay Away from Self-Tanner: Even fake tan can make it harder for the laser to target hair, so avoid it leading up to your sessions.
    After Your Laser Session:
  • Cool Down the Skin: Right after, your skin might feel warm and sensitive, so applying a cool compress helps a lot. I also find aloe vera soothing!
  • Avoid Hot Showers & Saunas: Try to avoid hot showers, saunas, or anything that can irritate the skin for 24-48 hours after the session.
  • Moisturize Regularly: Keeping your skin hydrated can help with any dryness or irritation.
  • Sunscreen, Sunscreen, Sunscreen: Protect your skin with SPF if the treated areas will be exposed to sunlight. Sun protection is key to avoiding pigmentation after laser.
  • Avoid Exercise for a Day: Sweat can irritate the skin after treatment, so try to skip the gym the day after.
Overall, these tips have really helped me get smoother results and made the sessions a lot easier. If anyone has any other tips, I’d love to hear them too! :two_hearts:
