What to do about my eyebrows... advice please?

Hi everyone,

I’m getting really frustrated with my bushy eyebrows. They never used to bother me when I was in my teens, but I’m 20 years old now and I want my eyebrows to look a bit more tame!

I’ve been plucking them. Am I only going to make them thicker my doing this? There seems to be finer hairs growing just above my eyebrows on my forehead.

I’m considering electrolysis but I’ve heard it’s a hard area to treat… would laser be better? My skin is fair and I have thick, black eyebrows… it might work for me?

Advice is greatly appreciated

Oh wow, not sure where you heard that! Electrolysis is perfect for this area, with laser you would not have the preciseness to remove one hair at a time.

Just proceed with caution though. You need to find an electrologist whose work you trust. I had my eyebrows done but only after having my sideburns treated. By then I was confident in the work my electrologist was doing and I trusted her. There are some negative eyebrow stories on here, so I’d find those threads and read through because you can learn a lot as to what to avoid and what to look for.

When the time does come, the best way is to pluck everything you want removed and as it starts to grow back in, start electrolysis. You will probably have to go quite often in the beginning as every week you will have new hair coming in. But it’s definitely worth it. You will need to stop plucking though, which can be hard when you have some annoying hairs and your next appointment is after a few days, but they can be shaved.

I am getting my brows treated now. I go every 2 weeks but trim the growth with scissors between appts. My electrologist is wonderful. She is really conservative and has only removed hair that is necessary to maintain the shape of my brows. She has even not removed hairs that I would normally tweeze because she thinks the brows should be a little longer and a little fuller. And you know what, she is right!!!

From what I have read, the reason that brows are difficult is because the amount of hair that comes through the skin at any given point is about 10% so every week, it looks like you had nothing done. You have to keep coming back and spend hours trying to get the elimination that we are all seeking.

Laser will not be able to give you the precision that you need for the brow area. And some people have reported that Laser on the face has caused some growth of hair instead of reduction.
