What laser is best for a full bikini/"hollywood"?

Hello,
I currently get a hollywood wax (everything in the pubic area removed - front and back). I have been told that I am a good candidate for laser because I have fair skin but dark/black hairs.

I would like to look into laser hair removal, but there seem to be a number of different types of laser available. What do you think would be the best laser for this area and for my colouring?

The place I go to for my waxing uses the Soprano laser, which sounds good pain-wise for such a sensative area, but having read some of the posts on here about that laser, I’m concerned that it might not be as effective as some of the other options!

I’d really appreciate some advice. Thanks in advance.

You probably need an alexandrite laser like GentleLASE. PLease read our FAQs at the link below.

Soprano is a diode laser and is ok in good hands. An alex would be better, also in good hands of course.

Pain shouldn’t be your concern. Good treatments at good effective settings that kill hair permanently hurt. You can use a numbing cream if need be.

Thanks a lot for replying. Now my challenge is to find a good place that uses Gentlelase (or similar). There don’t seem to be that many options round here (Surrey, England). Most places still seem to be using IPL and calling it a laser!

At a push, I can travel into London, but this would be expensive because of the travel costs incurred in addition to the actual cost of the procedure(s). Plus, of the two main places there that seem to use Gentlelase, one is notoriously expensive and the other has some pretty bad reviews.

I’m going to ask a lot of questions (inspired by the very helpful list on here) when I go for my wax today to see whether this place and the Soprano (not even sure if it is XL or not) might be a feasible back-up option…

Most places that do IPL call it laser, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a place that says “IPL Hair Removal!” It’s probably because no one knows what IPL is so they just say it’s laser. Depending on the type it’s not horrible if done correctly at high settings. If you can get a good deal on IPL then it may be worth it. I used the Lumenis One IPL module and had great results but switched to laser just because I didn’t want to chance it.

The original Soprano might be better than the XL since at least it fires actual pulses versus doing the rapid pulses which I find did nothing for me. Even if it is an XL, they can do it in the single pulse mode, but I doubt they’d want to since that sort of defeats the purpose of the machine. You might be okay for the area you’re treating though. Because it’s not a large flat area, they may use the single pulse mode anyway since it’s hard to wave the wand around over and over on a tight area.
