What is the meaning of "up & down" method?(LAgirl)

I read in other post from LAgirl that when you use the lightsheer laser you need “to use compression and up and down method instead of light gliding”

English is not my language and i dont know what is the meaning of:

  • up and down method. ?¿
  • use compression. ?¿

I have an appointment on thursday and the tech will use lightsheer, im very nervous and i want to know everything

Another question is:

  • is it necessary to use GEL by the tech while “lasering” my face (i will do my face with laser hehe). Is better use gel or is better not to use it? i think gel is not needed with lightsheer but i dont know if its better to use it …

thanx!!!

We just mean picking up the handpiece and pressing it down when applying to the skin. Some techs just lightly glide it against the skin’s surface.

Some machines use a gel, others don’t. Depends on the device. It’s a necessary thing with some machines.

LAgirl thanks for your answer, now i understand it!

Im 99% sure the lightsheer model is “ET” 9x9 spot size. So, with this model laser will work better in my face if the tech uses GEL or it is better if the tech is not using gel?

Maybe if the tech dont use gel i can avoid the “lightly glide” ??

Thank you

I think you are thinking in alexandrite lasers? the problem is that for example, candela gentlelase has a fixed pulse width of 3ms, and i read that for male beards that is not a god kind of laser in the beginning (coarse hair).

Im looking for a gentlemax or cynosure apogee, both with long pulse width, are both alexandrite but with long pulse, i think this is better for coarse male beard hair … the problem is i cant find a place near me with this models of lasers!

i think that if the tech is experienced, and he knows how to use the laser, maybe he can avoid patchiness on beard (due to the small spot size) just making overlaping (i dont know if is that the word XD).

Thanx for answering and reading me
