What is perfect for male back and shoulder hair?

Hello,

I noticed that some machines have different settings for different body zones, are there some who even differ on gender? Meaning if I buy a machine that is going to be used on male clients only, is there something I’d need to check on or worry about or will any machine do just fine? With my limited knowledge of hair I’d guess that male body hair (back, shoulders, butt, upper arms) are much thicker than, let’s say, female facial or leg hair. Should I go for an auto-timed machine or rather not?

Thanks for your time and patience, best wishes

Generally speaking, there are two settings, one for area and another for relative thickness, with thicker hairs get a higher setting. These are just presets though and you may find them a little low, so you can start with them and raise them manually until you find the right settings for the hair to release easily.

I have to run back upstairs and continue a session so I’ll try to be really brief.
The presets are just that, presets. On most machines they can be modified ( on apilus anyway) to whatever you want. Male hair is thicker than most females, and as a result requires more electrolysis energy to properly release a hair. But you learn to modify these presets quite quickly to adapt to the situation.
What the timed/ computerized epilators DO do is give you access to more treatment modulations, like multiplex, flash or picoflash, functions that you dont have access to if you are buying a machine with a thermolysis and galvanic dial and self timing.
Some prefer old school, some prefer newer techniques. They all remove hair. You should have no problem treating any hair, regardless of which you choose.

Seana explained it very well and her last sentence is espescially noteworthy!

These presets offer the advantage of being the most comfortable combinations of the intensity and timing, but the practitioner needs to be in control of the epilator so they can change the timing or tweak the intensity, based on the needs of the client.

The xCell Pro does offer male and female area presets. It looks like this:

The perfect treatment is the one that allows you to kill the maximum number of follicles, in the shortest time possible, with as little pain as possible. If zero, the better!

Well said Josefa
