I’ve heard many people, especially the trans people talking about how they were going full time for electrolysis treatments. What does going “full time” really mean, regarding electrolysis?
Full time can mean anything from going a couple times a week treating several areas at a time to using electrolysis as their only method of hair removal. That’s my guess if they are only referring to electrolysis as opposed to TG issues. Are you sure the statement was only referring to electrolysis?
Yes, I’m sure that I am referring to electrolysis. I once saw a video on you tube, about a MTF, and she explained how she was going full time with electrolysis. Also, I was reading something on tsroadmap.com regarding electrolysis and a person’s experience with it and this is what he/she said “Had I been full-time while doing electrolysis, I would have had to continue shaving for another 9 months, because my regrowth was noticeable. As I’ll discuss later, there are several benefits to completing electrolysis before going full-time.”
Speaking as a trans, I think they mean that they are having electrolysis so they can go full time (live as women), given how difficult it can be to do when one has facial hair. Living as a woman all of the time is what “full time” means in the trans world.
It is possible the person meant, “I am going full time and I am having electrolysis while I am living full time.” Some do, but it is better to have it before one goes full time.
When you have heavy facial hair, it can be awful difficult to pass; wearing artificial heavy makeup on your face and neck to hide the shadow can be as bad as the shadow itself. Thanks to a certain someone here on hairtell, that isn’t nearly the problem it used to be for me
The term “Full-Time” in the Trans and Cross Dressing world means living in female form in one’s daily life. Electrolysis that has achieved First Clearance, and is in a maintenance phase that can keep the skin relatively free of hair, or at least free of visible stubble can make it possible for one to live as a woman, without people looking at your skin and questioning your gender based on what they see there. Sure, there may be other things for them to question, but at least your skin won’t be something suspect.
This is the largest reason that I have so many out of town clients. They know that just one full clearance with me will allow them to live full time for 3 weeks after seeing me, and if they can maintain that locally, then they have jumpstarted their transition. If they can’t maintain that locally (or choose not to) they need only see me for more full clearances once every 6 weeks. Three of which are hair free, the other three one would have very little noticeable hair. During the time that my clients are shaving in between clearances, they typically need only shave once or twice a week.
Hi:
The term applies to transsexuals who live full time as women,
as opposed to prior to transition where they probably only did so on a part time basis. It also includes changing all of their legal identification documents and being adressed by the appropriate gender pronouns. It is considered a prerequisite for gender/sex reasignment surgery.

ok, this was quite helpful. Thanks every one, I understand it a bit better now. James, how long does it take for you to do an initial full clearance on a typical male beard?
Most men can get to first clearance with just 15 to 25 hours of work. If I actually had a man who has the 100 hairs per square inch that my text books told me most me are supposed to have (my clients average 250 to 500), I would be able to clear them in 7 hours or less. After that, the number of hours it takes to reclear the area every 6 weeks is less and less time. Eventually, we get the full clearance done, get a meal, and the client goes home all in the same day.
Most of the time, we get the full fist clearance done in one, two or three days. Locals tend to split up the work over a course of 6 weeks or less and then we go into maintenance mode to keep them looking bare faced.
