what are these red circles?

I had laser done on my legs for the first time tonight and the one leg hurt more than the other. When we finished, the tech and I noticed red circles (which seemed more than usual reddness) on the leg. She indicated they would scab up and peel. They are still very evident tonight, it looks like cigar burns on my leg from ankle to knee, and I am concerned. Will this fade within 24-48 hours, or am I burned and risking scarring? It doesn’t hurt much, a bit uncomfortable, but not horrible. Thank you!

It sounds a bit like blistering. I haven’t experienced it myself. From what I’ve read, it looks kinda scary but is probably not permanent.

it sounds like some superficial burning which will resolve itself. are your legs tanned? were the settings raised? what machine and settings are being used? what is your skin type?

Thank you for responding. I am not tan at all, and am light skinned with dark hair. I know it was a cynosure machine, but am sorry to say I don’t know the settings - this was my first visit. Rest of my body came out OK, just this one lower leg. do you have any idea how long this will last? I am headed out of town for business/vacation and cant imagine wearing a dress or shorts – and I am wary of leaving the country now and not being able to call anyone about this. They do look a bit better than yesterday, but definitely not healed. A small section actually look a little tanner than red. Will burns “scab and fall off?”? Could that be what she was talking about? thank you, thank you!

it’s impossible to tell you for sure over the internet without any pictures. your best bet is to see your clinic. also, apply pure aloe vera a few times a day to help it heal.
