Wearing Sunscreen After Laser Treatment?

I have been getting my treatments for upper hair removal at Nuvo (they use the Aurora IPL-RF laser). After each session at the end, they keep stressing me to use sunscreen SPF 40 on the treated areas. Why is this important? Does the treated area absorb more harmful UVA/UVB rays, cause any unwanted side effects like hypo-/hyper-pigmentation, or is it just a general precaution??

Thanks.

Absolutely! The skin has already been traumatized by the heat that the treatment has generated, and must recover from that. Exposing this area to the sun can cause hyperpigmentation in the treated area. You should be wearing at least 30spf on a daily basis anyway. Ciao!
