waxing near that sore area?? -male

Hi,

im a male and i recently started shaving my private area. Im not gay i just like it being neater. i have a few problems with it tho, first of all the little red bumps that appear and second of all how the hair in that area grows back so fast. i was gonna try waxing strips on the areas at the very base of the penis and to the sides of that, also the upper part of my inner thighs. just because those areas have a lot of hair and after you shave you can still see the black dots where the hairs are. I would still shave the scrotum because i imagine that would totally wreck to wax and anywayz the hair there isnt as much ( you can not see the hairs after they are shaved. im not shaving the hairs of my lower abdomen ,they are just trimmed.

Can i use something like Nad strips and that ‘tend skin’ lotion to do the job? I dont wanna go to a salon for sure! does waxing cause ingrown hairs too? Please give me some advice ?? Thank you!

Yes, waxing, shaving, tweezing can cause ingrowns. TendSkin is a chemical exfoliator that helps the ingrowns release.

It’s pick your poison time. No real good solutionn here for you since they are all the above mentioned are temporary and have side effects. Electrolysis will permanently remove the hair and laser will probably reduce the hair, but only if you are termed a “good candidate” for laser.

Since, you don’t want to go to a salon to be waxed professionally, then I sure that electrolysis and laser are not on your agenda either unless you work you way slowly towards those ideas.

Sorry that I can’t tell you that there is a magical creme that you apply yourself at home that will solve your problem with no side effects. Somebody’s probably working on it though.

I used to wax at home with varying degrees of success. Obviously, if you are waxing yourself, the areas you can get to are limited. I have used both the wax strips and the microwavable wax tubs and both work OK. I now just go to the salon instead, it is much easier and thorough.

I’d suggest going to a salon if you can. They do a much better job in getting more off. I just went for my first Brazilian a couple days ago (yes, I’m a guy too) and the results are much better than anything I’d been able to do myself at home. Another option if you really don’t want to go to a salon would be to have your significant other help out, especially if she likes the way it looks. While waxing can cause ingrown hairs, it’s no more or less than what you’d get from shaving. I’m about to try the Tend skin on my wife who gets really bad bumps after she shaves. I’ll take over shaving for her to both get better results and to spice things up since she doesn’t want to try waxing, afraid of the pain. I found it wasn’t any worse than a band aid being pulled off. Scrotum was a bit more sensitive, but I had that area done as well and am glad I did.

Ah, its so good to see the “smoothie” movement gaining converts; yes, good advice here as it is worth having it done professionally. Not very bad at all actually, and in some time, it will be just like any other grooming or spa treatment. Then, you will be ready for electrolysis and becoming permanent. It is all worth it, so read the forum threads and be prepared…

I’ve tried various hame waxing products for the area down there. My wife really likes the smooth feeling, but I’m usually sore for the next few days after waxing. My wife gets her brazilian professionally done and is fine. So, I decided that I would try going to a professional myself. The problem is that I can’t seem to find anyone who will do a male brazilian. Does anyone know of a place in the DC area that does?!!

Jedi,
I had a challenge finding someone too and ended up using Google to help. I searched for “men’s waxing” and the town name. Most of the places that came up only did men’s backs etc., but it only took me a half hour or so to find someone. Another option could be to search for a local esthetician school and contact them. One of their teachers may take men clients or know of someone who will.

Best of luck.

Hey Jedi,
I can tell you that if you find a place that does full Brazillians you will have luck. I do brazillians and that is a part of the waxing…man or female…so they are out there…Good luck

You can also try Craig’s List if you live in a larger city. There are certainly the more “questionable” services on there, but I have found some good massage and waxing services as well from some very nice people (generally women) who work out of their homes and do not have an advertising budget. Thus, the “free” classified listings are the best way to find them (other than a referal of course). Note that the quality of service will vary and you may receive less-than-perfect results…

Hey. I am a male and I’ve for a long time ever since I’ve started caring about the way I look I have hated hair with a passion. I don’t know why. But I’m having electrolysis done on my face because I don’t want facial hair. At least not as bad as I have it.
Anyways…like on other areas of my body such as my legs and bikini/anal area, I despise of that hair. I HATE hair “down there”. But, I tried waxing at home one time and I didn’t get the wax hot enough and it ended up costing me a layer of skin. So, at-home waxing really isn’t in my options. I would like to go to a professional salon to have my waxing done but I’m just curious of a few things. Like, if I get a male-brazilian wax, do they wax the hair around your butt as well? Because I hate hair there as well. That is so unattractive. And my other question is how do you just go to a place like that and let someone you don’t know just have all access to all your “business”? Ok…well I think that’s about all my questions. All help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

Hi. I am a waxing specialist and I am advising that you see an Esthetician that considers themself a specialist in waxing.
I can answer a few of your questions…
-A male brazilian wax should always include the back end. They should atleast ask. Please make sure they are experienced, esp w males!
-When waxing you should return regularly every 4-5weeks. This limits pain (it gets easier!) and also helps thin out the hair.
Visiting the same Esthetician regularly will in time help with your shyness.
-Going to see your Esthetician is much like seeing a nurse. This is what we do for a living. We see your “business” all day everyday. You need to feel comfortable. A good Esthetician should make you feel that way. Usually we are so focused on performing a clean service, that we concentrate on the outcome and don’t think about what we are actually doing/looking at. Hope that makes sense.

brandon,
My first wax did not go back around the anus but I asked the waxer and she will do that next time. I believe it depends on the individual waxer and you should ask about it or request it before your appointment. As to going to someone you don’t know for them to see “everything”, I felt it was similar in mood to going for a pedicure or something. It was not erotic or embarrassing. I did offer to help move/hold things so she could focus on the wax and hair. The touch and feel is very clinical to me and not of a style that could cause any embarassing reactions if you know what I mean. Hearing other stories, I may have had less of a reaction than many customers though. My waxer started off the appointment by talking to me about any allergies, that kind of stuff which helped get the appointment off to an appropriate tone.

Ok thank you both so much!! And I will try to find an Esthetician.
Thank you both again I feel much more comfortable and confident about going.
I found this website that has Estheticians in my area. Next question…Do I just call and kind of ask about the male brazilian wax? And I take it that if I mention waxing around the anus area they’re not going to freak out…??

Thanks again!!

brandon,
They should not freak out as they are already working right next to that area anyway and likely take care of that area for enough customers that it would not be a surprise.

Yes, just call and ask. If the specific location doesn’t do Men’s Brazilians, don’t just hang up, ask if they know of a place that does. It could shorten the time it takes to get an appointment.

ohh ok that makes sense.

alritey ill try that

soo about how much does this cost anyways??

Anywhere from $25 to $80.
