Wax 6 weeks prior to Beginning Laser

Hi i read somewhere on here, that if you waxed 6 weeks prior to starting laser hair removal it makes it more efficient and may reduce amount of treatments needed. From maybe 8 to 6. As money is a big issue for me, this would really help.

Area of Treatment - Upper Legs + Bum (i have never used any method of hair removal on these areas before)(my skin is pale and i have dark hair)

I was just wondering what your opinions on this were? Or if you have any tips on what i should do before starting laser?

Waxing 6-8 weeks prior to laser treatment will mean that, as long as the hair is removed properly, the hairs growing back will be in the anagen stage (the growth stage). Laser is most effect on hairs in the anagen stage. However, make sure that when you go for laser that all the hairs are as thick and coarse as they can be in order to get the best results as well.
Make sure you exfoliate before waxing, keep the area clean and sanitised etc. (you can find a lot more pre waxing tips on the waxing/sugaring forum). Also make sure that the hair is between 1/4 -1/2 an inch long, waxing will work on longer hair, but it will hurt a lot more, cause more trauma to the area and there is an increased risk in the hairs breaking off instead of being removed. As a final side note, if you do follow all the after waxing tips/instructions and still find that you start to get ingrowns/the equivalent of razor bumps, try using Tendskin to reduce this.

Pre laser wise, shave the skin 1-3 days before treatment (although I’m sure you know this already, otherwise I have a feeling that lagirl will rip her hair out in dismay) and I find taking 2 paracetemol 30 mins before the laser treatment also helps reduce the pain a little. There’s also a other useful information about this you can find in the Laser FAQ’s.

It can help since it will synchronize your hairs before the first treatment. I’ve personally experienced this and think it helped a lot. Be careful not to try to predict how many treatments you will need. It varies per person. You may need 8 or 12 or just 5. There are many variables.
