Wanting to train as an electrologist in NZ

Hi everyone

Im in New Zealand - land of the long white cloud!

Ive spoken about this before … I would love to train as an electrologist. My only option in our lovely country is to train with a Beauty School as a beauty therapist and then as part of that training we will cover a small module on electrolysis. This isnt what I am wanting - Im not wishing to learn about make up skills, hot rock massage, nails and suchlike, Im only interested in the electrolysis side of things and wishing to set up in business down the track as one so I can help others with this issue alone. Im feeling extremely frustrated that an electrolysis course(s) alone isnt available to learn here. Also I wouldnt feel comfortable setting up a business with such little training under my belt. Id love to concentrate solely on electrolysis, buy some great equipment and give people some great results.

As a 41yo mother of three busy children I just cant pack our family of five up and relocate to the UK or the US where specialised training is available (dont think I havent considered this though!) Also I cant leave the family on their own for the length of time that would be required.

If I could go back 20 years and re-do things I most certainly would workwise.

What do the professional electrologists think? I go backwards and forwards about this … Should I just go for the beauty therapy course of a year or two so I can get the basics of electrolysis under my belt and then do further research on my own about it all and maybe see if I can sit in with a good sole electrologist (scarce over here) who might be able to help me further? Would that be acceptable to then going out on my own at some stage? I just feel stuck between a rock and a hard place with this.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance

This is a tricky one and I would love to hear what the other pros think. Eyesight begins to change a lot in middle age, and although one can wear loupes, it is more challenging. I trained in my late teens and reckon that it would be worth getting the opinions of those who trained later. Nothing can beat natural sight for work ease and comfort. I would have an eye test first. I imagine that it would be particularly difficult for anyone far sighted. All of us have these problems sooner or later and it is possible that in the future that there will be better solutions.

I started doing electrolysis in my forties. I do wear glasses now where I didnt when I was younger, but I can still do electrolysis just fine!
