We need more information about the areas you want treated. Laser hair REDUCTION may be appropriate for some areas and electrolysis may be your only choice for others. Pictures are helpful. What is the color of your skin? How dark is your hair? How thick is your hair? Are you wanting all the hair gone or do you want a thinning?
Laser and electrolysis will be be expensive if you want large areas treated. It will take dedicated effort.
Temporary methods may be your ticket for now, but there are draw backs to temporary methods as well.
The good news is, you are in your mid thirties, so your hair pattern is most likely fully established… Well, except for your ears and eyebrows.
Virgin hair is nice from an electrolysis side of the equation, but we are able to work with any kind if hair situation.
Following up to what Dee wrote, I would also start by reading this:
i have read that before many times. it does not speak about virgin hair.
is there a particular statement you wish to draw my attention to?
why? can you please explain this statement.
thank you for replying
We like virgin hair for starting an area with electrolysis, but some electrologists prefer to wax once or shave prior to starting electrolysis. I would prefer a virgin area, but most of the time, I am presented with an area where the person has done temporary methods to tame the hair so they can tame their angst about having too much hair. I am okay with not having a virgin area - I can still achieve the goal.
Without quality pictures, it is hard to know if one modality, laser or electrolysis, would be the place to start. We can’t give you helpful information without pictures. If it is suggested that laser would be good for your chest, but electrolysis would be better for your back and then we tell you that both methods will require that you spend a lot of time and money to achieve a reduction or total removal and then we tell you that both methods are not pain-free, you may come back and say that you don’t have a lot of time and money and you are not good with pain, to which we will reply, maybe temporary methods may be your ticket to taming the hair. Whew! That was a mouthful!
Running the maze?
Something very rare is happening in about three weeks: I’m actually starting a client (back) who has not done any other “hair removal THINGY!” Stunning! (Maybe this has never happened?)
See, the average person starts out with no understanding about hair removal, thinks it’s going to be easy, and jumps at the first person that offers him what seems to be a reasonable solution.
(Think about this: Whether by evolution or creation, hairs were “designed” to be torn out and then completely regrow. Only a few germ cells left in a follicle will be able to create a new hair. Maybe YOU don’t want the hair, but your body DOES! It’s difficult to “fight” nature!)
My average guy (and woman too) has usually been mangled by a year or more of waxing, threading, (maybe) laser that didn’t work (sometimes laser does work), and perhaps sub-standard electrolysis treatment.
If you are asking for a simple/quick answer to your question, the only answer is “continue doing your ‘homework’!” A good start is to read through the many threads on this website and also check the information on Hairfacts.com. Find the threads that relate to your situation.
Today, with the internet and the myriad of hair removal options, it’s ALL in the consumer’s court. Be a savvy consumer and make the right decision for yourself. If you don’t take the time and just “jump,” you will be spending tons of money and getting virtually nothing.
I got an email this morning that said: Hey, I want my hair removed. Should I do laser or electrolysis?” So, there it is my fellow “hairtellers.” Funny huh?
Let me also offer my opinion about waxing your back (in your 30s). If you like pimples and ingrown hairs … go for it! (okay, not being very CD at this moment.)
i don’t follow
yes the human body is quiet amazing.
i’m leaning to electrolysis if i can get Josefa to reply to my email.
it seems to me that no research has been done on virgin hair and the best way to treat it for best results. i have heard people needing only a single treatment but do not know if this was because the hair had not been treated before.
“Maze” I meant that there are many roads to take and choices to make.
The non-treated hair (virgin) will kill-off as well as a “mangled” one … it’s just nicer for us to have it virgin … also better for you because you will easily verify the results and not have to wait for the waxed hairs to grow back. (You will still need 3 full clearances no matter what … on the back. Jossie will 'splain.)
And, don’t “kill off” Jossie … that girl is working WAY to hard. Time for a vacation, Jossie! Brazil?
